The offbeat bride: Jennifer, Mental Health Counselor/professional photographer/Fire Performance Artist

Her offbeat partner: Michael Canton, Professional Photographer/Tech Guru

Location & date of wedding: Beardslee Castle, Little Falls, New York. May 2, 2009.

What made our wedding offbeat: Our wedding was OURS. It was US. I wanted to wear red and have the most gorgeous flowing dreadlocks. Mike totally dug his brown suit and when I asked if he wanted to wear a boutonniere he said "…do I have to?", to which I replied, "there are no rules, nothing we have to do…wear one if you want to, don't if you don't."

…He didn't. :)

The offbeat bride: Shana, Renewable Energy

Her offbeat partner: Bill, Renewable Energy

Location & date of wedding: Our farm in Gouverneur, NY on August 2nd, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: First, it was on a rundown, beat up, muddy, treacherous farm. There is no barn to speak of, and everything has been abandoned for a couple decades. We warned guests of snakes and potholes, and asked them to bring hiking boots and tennis shoes (they needed tennis shoes for the groom's cup tennis tournament on our front lawn).

Remember Raina, the autumn bride who wore her mom's dress? Here's the full scoop on her library wedding!

KissThe offbeat bride: Raina, Graphic Designer

Her offbeat groom: Mike / freelance photographer & TV production guy

Location & date of wedding: The Clayville town library in Clayville, NY

What made our wedding offbeat: We really wanted to save a lot of money and keep it simple, simple, SIMPLE! We only had 7 people at the ceremony besides the two of us.

We did it at the tiny library in the town I grew up in. It was perfect because it was so small on the inside, and it happed to be a church at one point which lent itself to the layout of the ceremony well. We didn't have a religious ceremony but it was kind of cute to be in an old church turned library (and my job involves designing book jackets, so it was extra special!).

IMG_4807.jpgHere's a gorgeous shot of Raina to inspire all of you autumn brides.

I extra-love this photo because Raina is wearing her Mom's wedding dress. Lemme tell you, offbeat brides rock the vintage like no othas.

The whole set's a dream, really … including this awesome "you may now kiss the bride" photo. Hopefully I'll have more info about this wedding soon! All I can tell you for now is that they got married in a library in upstate NY.

(Thanks to mike.turz for the photo!)

lovers in the woodsThe offbeat bride: Rei Chee, naturalist

My offbeat groom: Bryan Perez, musician

Location & date of wedding: Backwoods on my friend/reverend's property in Boston Hills, NY. May 2006.

What made our wedding offbeat: Our wedding was not the ball of the year, but being in the presence of nature & our close friends made it very magical.

My husband & I eloped in my woodman friend's backyard, which was a huge tract of natural land. He was also our Reverend. We were married between a shagbark hickory (signifying solidity & strength) and a beautiful white pine, the Tree of Peace among the Iroquois Indians. Our invited guests were my parrot, a few special humans, and the Reverend's pack of border collies in a very whimsical ceremony.
