Elle & Bear’s Welsh and Scottish clifftop wedding

This pair wanted to celebrate their faith, their family tartans, and their EPIC Scottish clifftop scenery. They had handmade tush cushions for sitting on the rocks, kilts and tails, and a really good way to mingle AND thank you guests after the ceremony. Plus, you’ll love the way they handled some objections to their wedding planning choices.

Two 501st Legion nerds host a British fête fit for a Sith Lord

Emily and Phil met in 2002 through mutual friends in the UK Garrison, a Star Wars 501st legion group, and have been together ever since. The pair chose to have a wedding that combined all of their favorite things: leopard print, music, and, of course, Star Wars. The bridal party wore leopard-printed dresses to match Emily’s self-designed shoes, and the bride’s floor-length red bridal gown was matched by the groomsmen’s red shirts.

A “short, round, and very busty” girl’s guide to having a dress custom made

The idea of wedding dress shopping was something I had always found challenging. As someone who is short, round, and very busty, I hated the idea of being clamped into an off-the-peg sample dress four sizes too small. I looked at dresses aimed at curvier brides and saw that most of them were ugly, and seemed to be about hiding your body, not celebrating it. I knew any dress I bought in a bridal store would have to be massively modified to fit me. So instead of dealing with all that, I started thinking about having a dress made-to-measure.

A geeky garden wedding with enough Doctor Who, Stargate, and space references to make you giddy

If you could dream up a geeky celebration of love and life set in a garden, you’d probably come close to the wedding that Olivia and James had at The Old Rectory Bed and Breakfast in Great Malvern (United Kingdom). These guys had two cakes, one with a Lego Stargate scenario on top and the other was a TARDIS), Olivia wore white Batman-adorned Converse, guests were assigned to a spaceship-labeled table for dinner, and Olivia also carried a TARDIS and a Golden Snitch as her good luck charms. AND our very own Catherine designed Olivia’s dragon engagement ring!
