Here's to the last day of "geek week" weddings and the end to the count-down the book reading! And do I got a doozy for ya… See what happens when two comic book dorks fall in love. I'll give you hint — utter amazingness. -Megan

Hooray! The offbeat bride: Ann, Reservations Agent, Dork, and Sewing Superhero (and OBT member "Ann Verleg")

Her offbeat partner: Sean, Kitchen Manager, Dork and Ann’s personal Chef

Location & date of wedding: St. Andrews on the Square Kamloops, British Columbia Canada — October 31st, 2009 Halloween

What made our wedding offbeat: Our quest was to make our wedding hilariously fun and heartfelt. Everything was about us and our weird and wonderful imagination. We had a Viking themed ceremony that included a sword ceremony and dowry exchange, a dorktastic photo shoot in the park and at the comic book store where we met, a reception complete with beard contest and a pajama party/gift opening at breakfast.

As someone who often puts together these bride profiles while watching marathons of Doctor Who, this "geek week" wedding really made me happy. Also it's a first for "costumed wedding cat" that I know of! -Megan

us blue eyes jcThe offbeat bride: Brenda, software trainer

Her offbeat partner: Rob, High School teacher

Location & date of wedding: Our home, Manchester, NH — 7/18/09

What made our wedding offbeat: From the get-go, our wedding was anything other than traditional. We chose a sci-fi themed wedding based on the the TV show Firefly and movie Serenity, that represented our love of sci-fi and a reason to be eco-friendly.

The moment I saw their Lego cake topper and their card box constructed out of legos, I knew I had to profile them on "geek week!" So Lego nerds, check it out… -Megan

The offbeat bride: Lauren, computer nerd for a museum in Houston (and an OBT member)

Her offbeat partner: Nick, TSA Officer

Location & date of wedding: The War Memorial, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI — 8/28/2009

What made our wedding offbeat: From top to bottom, everything about our wedding bucked tradition. Somethings were out of our control, so we tossed out tradition. Lauren's whole family was unable to attend the wedding, so her father-in-law walked her in. But somethings… the lego cake topper, the moissanite ring (no diamond here!), and the knee high striped socks, well… we did it our way.

Remember the wacky wedding placemats made by OBT member Liz? Well, Liz is back with another of her great wedding creations — weird wedding survival kits for the adorably nerdy.

I'd seen this idea on a few blogs, but wanted to make it my own. Since I'm a Star Trek nerd, and Kevin's a Star Wars nerd, we had to include something from each universe in our particular kits.

Here's the list of what we've included…

The offbeat bride: Celeste, Fandomania Assistant Editor and Podcast Co-Host (and OBT member)

Her offbeat partner: Jason, Online Comics/Collectibles Store Owner and Fandomania Managing Editor and Podcast Co-Host

Location & date of wedding: Orlando Science Center, Orlando, FL — 11.14.09

What made our wedding offbeat: We are both extremely geeky (we met at a convention while Jason was running the Joss Whedon programming track), which is why we chose the Orlando Science Center, specifically the Dino Digs room, as our venue.
