Ladies, you see that adorable short wedding dress the bride Catherine is wearing? You see that adorable groom next to her? His name is Hans and he made Catherine's dress. Seriously: he made his bride's dress!

That said, I noticed this little post on the groom's blog:

number of dresses i've been asked to sew in the past 3 months by friends: 8. number of dresses i've sewn in the past 3 months: 1.

hint: i don't want to sew you a dress.

In other words, just because he made his bride's dress, doesn't mean he's making you a dress!

You don't hear that much about offbeat Utah weddings, but you better believe they happen! Case in point, Sydney & Jordan's classy-but-brassy wedding in American Fork, Utah, as captured by Jonathan Canlas Photography.

The Offbeat Bride: Stori, Elementary School Counselor

My Offbeat Partner: Tausha, Peet's Coffee & Tea Assistant Manager

Location & date of wedding: Boundary Bay Brewery Beer Garden, Bellingham, WA — 10.11.2008

What made our wedding offbeat: We wanted an event that was inviting to everyone we loved (who didn't really know each other), and we really didn't want to waste money on things like table cloths, vases, candle holders, place holders, etc. So, with a two month time frame, we found everything we needed at garage and estate sales all over Portland. Even our officiant was gratefully recycled from good friends wedding, as well as our shoes, center pieces, decorations, some art auction pieces, hair piece, vow ideas, one bride's outfit, etc.

The offbeat bride: Jamie, Recruiter and Executive Assistant & delicious cookie baker.

My offbeat partner: Chris, Screen Printer

Location & date of wedding: Hugh Moore Park, Easton Pennsylvania — Saturday July 12th, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: During planning stages, when we described our wedding as a family reunion, people laughed at us. But in the end — that's exactly how it turned out.

We had games like badminton, Corn Hole, quoits, and a guest brought Kan Jam (a Frisbee game that the guys were all over), a keg, pinatas, and LOTS of family. That's all we really wanted for our wedding. Oh, and an all vegetarian spread of picnic-type food and a baked potato bar!

The offbeat bride: Chastidy, barista

Her offbeat partner: Rick aka "Mo," cd slinger

Location & date of wedding: Lake Sacagewea, Longview WA – Aug. 16th 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: I wanted my wedding to be inspired a bit by the retro lifestyle I love so much, a bit by polka dots because I love them so, and a lot by us! And I think it turned out fabulous. We all adorned classic chucks, my pug Munster was my ring bearer, my girls danced down the aisle to a What a Wonderful World cover by the one and only Joey Ramone and, well, we played rock paper scissor to determine who had to say those scary vows first. ;) I think my conservative family was a bit thrown by our brightly colored hair, punk rock music, and silly antics but, hey, that's us!
