The PixelsThe offbeat bride: Ingo Pixel, Makeup Artist

My offbeat groom: Andy Pixel, Software Developer

Location & date of wedding: 7/14/07. Henry Art Gallery and Twilight Exit, Seattle.

What made our wedding offbeat: We tried everything we could to stay away from traditional wedding vendors and to involve our friends, family, and amazing network of talented and helpful individuals to make it all intimate and special.

Christina & MitchThe offbeat bride: Christina, Architect/intern

My offbeat groom: Michael, Musician/vintage furniture salesman

Location & date of wedding: Ceremony at Trinity Church and reception at Sunset Tavern, both in Seattle, June 2007.

What made our wedding offbeat: We tried to do things our way and not get caught up in everything we "had to have" for the wedding. We were able to have a totally rockin' wedding with a very small budget.

brussels sprout and asparagus centerpieceYay for Riona (of Godawful Wedding Crap fame) and her gorgeous veggie-rich centerpieces. This one features brussels sprout and asparagus, but she also had peppers and radishes as part of her floral centerpieces at her 2006 wedding.

What I want to know is whether guests started nibbling on the centerpieces.

Christina and Michael's weddingThis is absolutely my favorite wedding shot of the day. From the bride's expression to the decorated get-away bikes to the groom's tie to his kilt to the fact that yes, it was taken in my hometown of Seattle … I just love it!

I'm consistently amazed and in love with the pictures that show up in the Offbeat Bride photo pool. Yay!

I just got this email from a friend, and I'm guessing some Seattleite offbeat brides might be interested …

From Seattle photographer Victoria Renard:

I'm beginning a new leg of my business to include unique, rock & roll style and alternative lifestyle wedding and couples photography. For one thing, I understand that a lot of people get married (especially in the summertime) but not everyone wants their ceremony to look like some sort of Disney/Pixar fairy tale complete with Vaseline on the lens vignetting and white dresses. I also understand that not everyone plans their event a year in advance or has $5,000 to spend. So, I am starting a new budget-savvy photography service for people who are looking for something different.

A real kiss for an imaginary weddingThe offbeat bride: Dana Bos, imaginary girl

My offbeat groom: David Bos, rockstar

Location & date of wedding: Real wedding at The Ruins, Seattle {2.20.05} || Imaginary wedding at the Crocodile Cafe {2.20.05}, Seattle, WA

What made our wedding offbeat: David and I knew we wanted an elegant and intimate wedding, one that was an extravagant enough affair that we couldn't invite the world. But being actively involved in the music scene (he as a guitar player, me as a music writer), we also wanted to have a big bad rock and roll bash to celebrate our marriage.

So we did both.

Don't Blink wedding photography

Wai-Ching logoWai-ChingFor those uninterested in princess wedding dresses, prepare to have your head explode from the innovative gorgeousness that is indie-designer Chrissy Wai-Ching Leung's dress line. Hailing from Seattle via Chicago, Hong Kong, and Nice, France, Chrissy specializes in making custom silk wedding dresses that fly (or in some cases float) in the face of over-brocaded poofy white wedding wear. Using hand-dyed silks, each dress is custom made to meet the needs of the bride's tastes and curves, ensuring that your wedding dress is truly one of a kind.

Chrissy caters to brides all over the nation via her website, but if you happen to be looking for a Seattle wedding dress, you owe it to yourself to visit her cozy Pioneer Square loft studio where, if you're like me, you'll want to fondle the samples and pet the silk-ribboned pillows for a couple hours. Forget the "white blindness" so common at bridal boutiques — at Wai-Ching you bathe in rich blues and reds and greens.
