Robert and Kelly Gash are an adorable husband and wife team that make up Gash Photography in Seattle, covering all of Seattle, Washington, and beyond. These two crazy kids get their kicks out of working with couples who enjoy "breaking the rules" much in the same way they've done with their business.

Their idea was simple… build a relationship by committing their time to each client. And don't ask people to make sacrifices just to fit a budget. They threw traditional "limited" pricing out the window to give everyone the same great photography coverage. In a sentence: they cater to offbeat brides by being offbeat photographers.

Gash Photography has shot several offbeat weddings, but said that the wedding of Seattle couple Genna and Adam stood out as the one to share with our beloved Offbeat readers. Keep reading to see more porn from Gash Photography's favorite offbeat wedding and to take advantage of their big FAT offbeat discount…

The offbeat bride: Suzanna, Professor/Sociologist (and OBT member "Suzgrad")

Her offbeat partner: Ronald, Academic/Computer Scientist

Location & date of wedding: The University of Washington campus in Seattle, WA (Sylvan Grove and Mary Gates Hall) — July 18, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We’ve both had reservations about marriage: it’s often associated with sexism, it implies that relationships should be permanent even though they often aren’t, we were already long-term, and we think marriage should be legal for more people. Still, we wanted to make our commitment official in a public way — but we wanted our wedding to reflect our ideas about marriage, without becoming about them rather than us. So…

I can't promise that there will be penis cake and a male stripper, like there was at my 2007 book release party ... BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!

I can't promise that there will be penis cake and a male stripper like there was at my 2007 book release party ... BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!

For those of you in the Pacific Northwest, save the date for the release party of the second edition of Offbeat Bride!

Offbeat Bride Book Re-Release Partay!

March 6th, 2010
2pm – 5m
Elliott Bay Books
101 South Main Street
Seattle WA

Seattle book nerds already know that this will be one of the last readings at Elliott Bay's venerable Pioneer Square location. They're moving to Capitol Hill in mid-March, so this is a great opportunity to take one last walk across their creaky wood floors.

I would LOOOOOVE to meet some of you there — I'm hoping this can be a good excuse for an OBB/OBT meet-up. Andreas and Tavi will be in attendance of course … and maybe Megan will even fly up from Los Angeles. (Sadly Shrie won't be there because she's going to be out of town at, yes, A WEDDING.)

If you think you can make it, please oh please RSVP!

Quinn totally gets OBBs because, well, SHE TOTALLY WAS ONE!

Quinn totally gets OBBs because, well, SHE TOTALLY WAS ONE!

I'm pretty excited to tell you about OBT member-turned-Ceremony Officiant, Quinn Russell. After using Offbeat Bride to plan her 2008 wedding, she's now spreading the love by performing one-of-a-kind weddings and commitment ceremonies in the Pacific Northwest.

Quinn is a graduate of the Celebrant Foundation and Institute where she studied ritual and ceremony from many different traditions. So we're talking creative ceremonies that are unique, and speak to exactly who you guys are and what EXACTLY you want to express. She's also a GLBTQ ally and is excited to support all sorts of loving partnerships.

So if you're looking for  a hip-tattooed-minister who can also help you make a beautiful ceremony AND add all the other creative, unique things you want, too… head over to her website and then thank your lucky stars you found a fellow Offbeat Bride to guide you through it all!

After three years doing weddings, Seattle photographer Jenny GG has fallen head over heals for offbeat brides. And what's not to love about 'em, I mean, they're not afraid to be daring and they give great wedding porn.

Which is why Jenny contacted us with a special offer just for our readers!

But first, let's check out some of her great moments in wedding porn…

Those of you who have been reading Offbeat Bride for a while will remember seeing Seattle photographer Jenny Jimenez's work here before. She shot Molly & Laurie's "Yes we can!" wedding last fall, as well as the infamous Pixel wedding a couple years back. I'm such a fan that I booked her to do my maternity shoot!

Jenny comes from a music photojournalism background shooting bands like Death Cab for Cutie, the Gossip, Built to Spill and Sleater Kinney, so she's one of those photographers who has the magical ability to make brides look quite literally like rock stars. Want proof? Keep scrolling…

OfferendaThe Offbeat Bride: Catherine

Her Offbeat Partner: Jeffrey

Location & date of wedding: Georgetown Ballroom, Seattle WA — 11/01/08

What made our wedding offbeat: We chose the Day of the Dead as our date so that we could include our passed relatives and friends. We had a reserved setting area for framed photos of them during the ceremony and a large Offerenda on the stage so they could enjoy the reception after. I also had three living bridesmaids and one deceased one, who was represented in the ceremony by a memorial picture I tied into my hat.
