OfferendaThe Offbeat Bride: Catherine

Her Offbeat Partner: Jeffrey

Location & date of wedding: Georgetown Ballroom, Seattle WA — 11/01/08

What made our wedding offbeat: We chose the Day of the Dead as our date so that we could include our passed relatives and friends. We had a reserved setting area for framed photos of them during the ceremony and a large Offerenda on the stage so they could enjoy the reception after. I also had three living bridesmaids and one deceased one, who was represented in the ceremony by a memorial picture I tied into my hat.

Ladies, you see that adorable short wedding dress the bride Catherine is wearing? You see that adorable groom next to her? His name is Hans and he made Catherine's dress. Seriously: he made his bride's dress!

That said, I noticed this little post on the groom's blog:

number of dresses i've been asked to sew in the past 3 months by friends: 8. number of dresses i've sewn in the past 3 months: 1.

hint: i don't want to sew you a dress.

In other words, just because he made his bride's dress, doesn't mean he's making you a dress!

I just found out about this amazing little place here in the Seattle area: Treehouse Point, a tiny little resort where you can stay in a treehouse.

or get married in one. The words intimate treehouse wedding make me want to dance around in fairy wings with a sword fern wand (maybe it's a Pacific Northwest thing?) but seriously: go look at the pictures.
