Oh, I do love a good scooter wedding! As the bride says, "We were quite the tourist attraction that afternoon, riding down Manhattan on our vespa with my veil flying."

The Offbeat Bride: Jessi (aka. "Cupcake" or OBT member "Cupcake Pharaoh") — massage therapist/artist/pet sitter extraordinaire!

Her Offbeat Partner: Sean (aka. "Sweetpea") — Grocery Store Manager and scooter aficionado

Location & date of wedding: The Albuquerque Press Club (and Highland park below it), Albuquerque NM — May 16th, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We wanted four things for our wedding: cheap, green, local and fun! The ceremony was in a local park (free and green), and the reception was in the Albuquerque Press Club which is a really cool log cabin that was built in 1903 (also pretty cheap and definitely fun). We have our monthly scooter club meetings there, so we were very comfortable with the club. Not to mention it has a bar, pool table, ping pong, darts, and arcade game!!

The offbeat bride: Michelle, Engineer (not the kind that drives trains)

Her offbeat partner: John, Doctor (not the kind that helps people)

Location & date of wedding: 54th floor of TD Bank Tower (Canoe Restaurant) in Toronto, ON, Canada on September 2nd, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: There was never any question as to our wedding date – even before it was discussed, we both knew it would be September 2, the day we met 9 years ago. It just so happened that September 2 fell on a Tuesday this year! Having a weekday wedding made the planning so much easier – we had no trouble finding a venue or vendors, and everyone was flexible when it came to cost.

The offbeat bride: Jackie, Museum Site Manager

Her offbeat partner: Steve, Audio Engineer

Location & date of wedding: Smathers Beach in Key West, Florida on May 20th, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: Our first vacation as a couple was Key West, FL. We made a promise at the end of our stay that we would return and get married on the beach.

But we didn't want to spend a lot of cash on sharing a few words and signing some papers. We wanted a quick getaway.

We booked a local to perform the wedding and had a veteran take some shots of the ceremony for our families we left behind. Once the uncomfortable "I-Do's" were over, I hopped on the back of our scooter and headed to Duval Street in my $99 dollar David's Bridal dress to score as much free booze and cigars as I could get.

We later toured Key West in an old Chevelle with our photographer Tom Flip in tow. He took pictures of us at the graveyard, Blue Heaven (an old brothel now converted into the locals favorite food joint) and in a church parking lot.
