Way back in August of 2007, I featured photos of Carol's flame-licked wedding dress.

…And now, I believe I have finally answered the question of where the dress came from: Mode Merr.

They have 'em in a different lengths and color combos.

If you're into that whole fiery wedding thing, go look.

I've got this theory about wedding photography and offbeat couples.

IMG_4315aSee, wedding photographers aren't just doing a service for you. You're also doing a service for them by providing images for use in their portfolios. And, let's be honest, which photos add more to a photographer's body of work: another traditional shot from a traditional wedding or a photo of a couple dressed as astronauts taking flight on their wedding day?

In other words, photos from your offbeat wedding may be of greater business benefit to a photographer … and therefore, photographers may be willing to negotiate a lower price.

I decided to test this theory by asking some of my favorite wedding photographers about their pricing policies and negotiating tips for non-traditional couples. Here's what I learned…

The offbeat bride: Gina Lee, Dress Designer/Maker & Illustrator

Her offbeat partner: Wayne, Residential Caretaker & Landscape Gardener

Location & date of wedding: Southwark Registry Office (ceremony) & Le Piaf (reception) on September 5th, 2008 in London, England

Why is it that rockabilly brides always have the most fabulous wedding hair?

I'm totally in love with the 1940s 'do that Laurenn and her fabulous smile are rocking in this shot from Bonnie Berry Photography.

If you want to see the full series from Laurenn and Alex's Las Vegas wedding, head on over to Bonnie's blog. There's a gorgeous red dress, cupcakes, paper lanterns, cute kids and a smiley dog.

(Oh and thanks for the heads up, Kat!)
