Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

What do you get when two British circus performers marry? You get a bride in a candy-apple red dress (made by Miss Katie) with matching candy-apple red pin-up hair, arriving at her courthouse wedding in a gold car with an eye-patched skull on top. You get hottie bridesmaids in little top hats and a fabulous red cake, and from the looks of it, one HELL of a reception.

You'll find all this and more in the photos from Lucifire and Dave Tusk's April 2006 wedding. Take your time going through the hundreds of photos on Lucifire's Myspace. Bonus sweetness: on her website, the bride describes herself as "profoundly, ridiculously, disgustingly happily married."

The offbeat bride: Angela – Notary Public/Office Manager

Her offbeat partner: Chris

Location & date of wedding: 1/19/2008. Ceremony was at The Marston House's rose garden in Balboa Park San Diego, CA. The reception was at another favorite our neighborhood bar, LEI Lounge.

What made our wedding offbeat: We have been together for a decade and I never thought we were going to get married. We wanted a very nontraditional wedding and basically a big party — or as our friends say, "Another A&C Production!" I knew right away I was going to wear a RED dress, no questions asked. And of course a tea length dress so you can see the fabulous shoes — everyone knows my obsession with shoes!

I was interviewed by a Canadian newspaper for an article about the red wedding dress trend: Bold brides see red when it comes to wedding dresses.

fas_wedding_2091.jpg“I’m not saying that all nontraditional weddings should be reactionary, or that your wedding is a place to be rebellious,” the Seattle-based writer told the Georgia Straight. “But I think red wedding dresses are a superficial expression of a deeper commitment to doing what you want to do. The woman wearing it shows that she’s willing to do what she wants to do, and take on the challenges and criticism that comes with that.”

YolkaiThe offbeat bride: Yolkai, Mama, crafter, delicious food maker

Her offbeat groom: Anthony/Ackshawn, Teacher, K-8 Behavior Specialist

Location & date of wedding: Isis Oasis Sanctuary, a retreat center with an Egyptian theme in Geyserville, CA.

What made our wedding offbeat:We did it our way! After six years and a baby together we wanted the public declaration, the fancy outfits, and the big fun party! We chucked most of the mainstream wedding crap and held on to a few sweet traditions. Pretty much everything, from the invitations to the interpretive dance, was an expression of our style, our silliness, and our values.

I can't decide which shot I like better. The gorgeousness of each is simply out of this world.

And then I checked out the whole set and my skull caved in from too much awesomeness. Feasting eyes. Eyes bloated. Eyes vomiting from too much feasting. SO TASTY!

And, hello there, postapocolyptic bride!
