The Offbeat Bride: Mandi, Marketing Manager

Her Offbeat Partner: Neil, Tabletop fantasy and futuristic battle-games retail assistant!

Location & date of wedding: Cooling Castle Barn, Kent, UK — 4 December 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: We had a few ideas about what we wanted; normal for us — not so normal for others it seems :) We had a few setbacks during our year of planning, so we stripped right back to only the things we really, really wanted. We encountered a bit of resistance from people along the way but on the day, we had what looked like a very traditional wedding from the outside but a little bit different once they were all tarpped in the room with us!!

red-wedding-dressIf you're going to wear a red wedding dress, you owe it to yourself to have fun with it — like Puck is doing here, as captured by PixieVisionProductions.

Throw up your arms! Throw back your head! Live it up!

And no, I don't know who made the dress — but I can tell you ALL about the boots. They're Fleuvogs — the only heels that I find comfortable.

Oh, and wait until you see what the groom wore

Offbeat Bride: Sheva, Hairstylist

Her Offbeat Partner: Jared, Cad specialist

Location & date of wedding: Castle on the Hudson, Tarrytown, NY — October 31st, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: Jared and I hate the traditional, and dread going to weddings. We decided to throw a huge bash on our favorite holiday, Halloween.

To ensure that our guests would losen up and have fun we had everyone dress up in costume. Jared wore jeans and we all decided to wear chucks and be comfortable. We got to be ourselves and had a stress free fun day.

Fun Offbeat Fact: Stasha's brother-in-law Dave Tusk's wedding was previously profiled on Offbeat Bride. I'm sure most all of you will remember Lucifire & Dave Tusks bright red circus wedding! As Stasha put it, "We're just one big freaky family!"

The Offbeat Bride: Stasha, Gal Friday

Her Offbeat Partner: Rob, Student

Location & date of wedding: City Center, Redwood City, California — July 23, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: We didn't stick with many traditions at all and, with the help and contributions of our friends, we did the entire thing for under $600 (and that includes our clothes)!

The Offbeat Bride: Sarah, Hairstylist

Her Offbeat Partner: Jess, Baker

Location & date of wedding: Friend's beach house in Southern Shores, NC — October 11, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: We were on an extremely tight budget, so we cut out a lot of traditions that didn't matter to us. The groom's family is from Scotland, so we had a handfasting ceremony and Quaich ceremony.
