I have to send a great big 'ol shout-out to OBB reader Nancy for ushering us in the direction of a super (and may I even add "duper?") custom wedding invitation by Anna Rummey who shows us all a thing or two about how to make an awesome wedding invitation when you're "visibly up the duff"…

From Anna's blog:

I drew the birds months ago when I was at my folks, just after we arrived back from London. I had no idea that I was pregnant at the time or about to get married. The invite was a bit cheeky but didn't cause too much of a stir, although I'm pretty sure my dad wrote something completely different when he translated it for our relatives in Poland…

The offbeat bride: ElisaBethe, Loan Officer

Her offbeat partner: Chris, Pipe-fitter

Location & date of wedding: Neighborhood park in Atascocita, TX — 05/23/09

What made our wedding offbeat: First we were planning a big wedding. Then I got pregnant and we decided to elope. At the last minute, we decided, instead, to hold a tiny park wedding, and only invite our immediate family; about twenty people.

I was seven months pregnant, and we decided to wear bright blue in honor of our little boy on the way. My dress was $6.00 at Charlotte Russe! I made a feather and faux flower bouquet the day of with decorations from Hobby Lobby, and wore feathers in my hair picked up that day as well. When I got my make-up done, I requested "a mardi gras mask for my eyes."

The offbeat bride: Miranda Podger, Registered Nurse

Her offbeat partner: Mike Podger

Location & date of wedding: The dance marquee in a very muddy field at the Pontardawe Music Festival in Pontardawe, South Wales, UK on August 16th, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: A traditional wedding with all the trimmings was never going to be right for Mike and myself. This was the second marriage for both of us and we're not what you'd consider the most traditional, mainstream of couples. We got engaged on Christmas Eve 2007 and married August 16th 2008, so that didn't give us long to plan things. Plus we had a very small budget (in the end we managed to pull it off with a spend of around £300!)

2008.08.08-12.16.19-1The offbeat bride: Danica

Her offbeat partner: Mike

Location & date of wedding: Newcastle Island, Canada – August 8th, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: We kept it simple. I made all the cupcakes for the guests (all ninety! WHEW! Transporting them was a BITCH). We had our talented photographer friend Aki walk on stilts.

I'm double Offbeat! Pregnant, tattooed and I wore white!
