To celebrate the season, we're featuring a Halloween wedding every week for the month of October!

The Offbeat Bride: Kymba, RN (and OBT member)

Her Offbeat Partner: Kerry, Paramedic

Location & date of wedding: Shaffer Hotel, Mountainair, New Mexico. A haunted pueblo-deco, built in a unique style with an attached park, gazebo, firepit, game room, multipurpose room, an attached restaurant, and a ghost or two who joined in our fun — October 31, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: As a free-spirited, multi-ethnic, democratic hippie marrying a former military, Lutheran, republican — there wasn't a whole lot about our wedding that was considered "normal" by either side of the aisle (well, except the aisle itself). My family was very happy with the whole Halloween wedding in a haunted hotel in costume vibe. His family was very happy with the gazebo ceremony site, country music reception, and the great local food.

The Offbeat Bride: Jessi (aka. "Cupcake" or OBT member "Cupcake Pharaoh") — massage therapist/artist/pet sitter extraordinaire!

Her Offbeat Partner: Sean (aka. "Sweetpea") — Grocery Store Manager and scooter aficionado

Location & date of wedding: The Albuquerque Press Club (and Highland park below it), Albuquerque NM — May 16th, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We wanted four things for our wedding: cheap, green, local and fun! The ceremony was in a local park (free and green), and the reception was in the Albuquerque Press Club which is a really cool log cabin that was built in 1903 (also pretty cheap and definitely fun). We have our monthly scooter club meetings there, so we were very comfortable with the club. Not to mention it has a bar, pool table, ping pong, darts, and arcade game!!

Phillip & Annelise Wedding - 115I love the photos from this low-key backyard wedding in New Mexico. The ceremony took place between two trees, the flower girl was barefoot and the officiant looks like a laid-back fellow. Entertainment seems to have included a flautist and bellydancing. Bonus points for the hot DJ.

The photos from this beautiful and simple wedding are an excellent reminder that all the pomp and circumstance can just be a distraction — all you really need are the people you love and a place to stand for a few moments. See all the pictures here. Photos by romanedirisinghe.
