What made our wedding offbeat: From the get-go, our wedding was anything other than traditional. We chose a sci-fi themed wedding based on the the TV show Firefly and movie Serenity, that represented our love of sci-fi and a reason to be eco-friendly.

What made our wedding offbeat: The main theme of this wedding was low maintenance. I wanted to ENJOY the wedding process, not be miserable and stressed the whole time. It was hard, but it happened! After that was the budget of $5,000. I know that other brides have done it on smaller budgets, but I was ecstatic with what we were able to accomplish.

The offbeat bride: Brigitte, Sales & Customer Service

Her offbeat partner: Cory, House Painter

Location & date of wedding: Dad's backyard in Derry, New Hampshire on August 23rd, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: Cory and I were married in a short ceremony at my Dad's home. Luckily for me he happens to have a golf course in his back yard. We had a tented reception with the typical wedding set up, but since we were not tied to a specific venues preferred vendors we had total freedom to pick and choose.

The offbeat bride: Stacy Streuli, Interior Designer (and Offbeat Bride lab rat!)

My offbeat groom: Oliver, video and commercial editor

Location & date of wedding: Small B&B, White Mountains, NH: 10/17/04

What made our wedding offbeat: The things which made our wedding offbeat were mostly due to my staunch refusal to succumb to my mother's "only daughter" fantasy of a big traditional synagogue wedding with 250 guests. She was actually prepared to take out a loan to finance it. I never wanted the white wedding fantasy, and I wasn't prepared to bankrupt my mother over it.
