What made our wedding offbeat: Our wedding was offbeat for several reasons. First, we had a short engagement (four months) and we stuck to a very reasonable budget. Second, we kept everything really simple, we had a small wedding party of my sister and Paul's best friend.

The Offbeat Bride: Emily, Graphic Designer & Studio Artist (and OBT member "TheSueb")

Location & date of wedding: The Loring Pasta Bar and Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, MN — 9/20/08

What made our wedding offbeat: Our ceremony was in a restaurant that was shut down for a few hours. My girls and I walked down a giant staircase and the ceremony was held on a small stage. The best part is that we can relive our wedding anytime we want just by going out for dinner or drinks! I walked down the aisle to the "Bridal March" which transitioned into "Cum on Feel the Noise," by Quiet Riot played on the violin. My husband and I left to bagpipe music (a tradition in his family).

The Offbeat Bride: Sarah, Freelance Writer and Editor (and OBT member Icedinogirl.)

Her Offbeat Partner: Aaron, Business Process Consultant

Location & date of wedding: Richfield Ice Arena, Minnepolis, MN — 4/4/09

What made our wedding offbeat: Our wedding was offbeat for several reasons. Primarily, because it was on the ice at a hockey arena. All of the wedding party wore skates (well, one didn't due to health reasons). We wanted our wedding day to be a celebration of our love for each other in a unique and personal way.

We received varied responses from people when they found out that our wedding would be on ice. But most people thought it was a really neat and unique idea. Even Aaron thought I was joking when I brought up the idea of our wedding on ice, but I shared my vision and eventually he warmed to the idea. My mother also thought it was crazy — I remember her asking "Where will people sit?" In the bleachers!

The Offbeat Bride: Bethany, Grassroots Director

Her Offbeat Partner: Kris, Lawyer/Financial Advisor

Location & date of wedding: Theodore Wirth Park, Minneapolis, MN — 10-18-2008

What made our wedding offbeat: My partner and I both love the fall and consider it the best season in Minnesota. I also love to throw dinner parties and wanted our ceremony to be an "extended dinner party" with wonderful food and wine. We also wanted to accentuate the beautiful colors of fall, so we found a beautiful "chalet" at a city park. I wore a chocolate brown dress with awesome orange shoes. Kris wore a classic black suit with a golden rust tie. We had no attendants or "wedding party." Just us.

The Offbeat Bride: Laura, Looking for Work!

Location & Date of wedding: Union Depot in St Paul, MN — 03/14/09

What made our wedding offbeat: Okay, so we had the money (given to us) and the social pressure to do a mostly traditional wedding, nice place, sit down dinner etc. But we are offbeat people and we needed something to make the wedding truly special, fun and ours. We decided on a Day of the Dead theme for a few reasons. First, we love and collect Day of the Dead art. Rob has Day of the Dead tattoos as his arm sleeve. Second, Rob's parents retired in Mexico and collect/make Day of the Dead art. Third, my son [editors note: major cutie] is half Mexican, it all seemed to fit! Til Death do we Part!
