So, I grew up on a one-lane dirt road on an Island near Seattle. We didn't have many neighbors, but it turns out that the girl who grew up one door down the dirt road is now making some of the most amazing urban tribal/bellydance-inspired headpieces I've never seen.

Daniella White lives in Los Angeles now, and she crafts fabulous custom-made headpieces that will blow your freaking mind. Made from feathers, bits of vintage fur, jewelry, and whatever other bits of magic Daniella can find, the headpieces would make a truly stunning veil alternative for a bride who wanted to make a big statement.

Can you imagine walking down a snowy aisle for your winter wedding wearing this custom piece? (Click the photo for more info!)

Ooh, or your early spring 2010 wedding, dancing amidst the flowers in this:

hairpoisonbridal_11Attention Seattle ladies! I'm cosponsoring a hot hair give-away with my beloved hair salon, VAIN.

Yes, I'm a total whore for them: they've been doing my hair since 2001 when I cut off my dreadlocks with a pair of fingernail scissors and went limping in afterwards looking like an escapee from the Home For Mentally Deranged Pixies. They produce the best hair blog in Seattle. They invented my pink braids.

Anyway, enough about me. VAIN of course rocks the wedding hair, and if you're in Seattle, you definitely want to win this bridal package.

WIN THIS STUFF FROM VAIN & OFFBEAT BRIDE:

  1. Bridal updo at VAIN downtown ($75 value)
  2. Wedding waxing (brows, bikini, whatever you want) with VAIN's waxing queen Belinda in the private waxing studio above VAIN downtown ($75 value)
  3. Custom "Hair Poison" bridal headpiece by Sweet Revenge, aka VAIN stylist Kelly (pictured above!), who donates a portion of Sweet Revenge proceeds to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition — she's a survivor. ($100 value)
  4. Awesome "Altar your thinking" Offbeat Bride tshirt.

For rules, how to enter, and pictures of Hair Poison headpieces from my hot ladyfriends at VAIN, keep reading.

There's a lot to love about Kara & Drew's Colorado Hoe-Down wedding, but I've never seen anything like Kara's wonderful poof veil here.

It looks like a concept that would be relatively easy to make, and it just adds such a sense of drama to her clean and simple ensemble. Plus, it's a nod to a veil without being too, you know, veil-y.

What made our wedding offbeat: My husband wanted to wear a Great Kilt in his family's tartan, so we decided to use the 18th century as inspiration and the plans grew from there.
