c-r-fullThe offbeat bride: Rosemary, graduate student

Her offbeat partner: Christopher, graduate student

Location & date of wedding: June 21, 2008 in a friend’s wild back yard and forest, near Montreal, QC

What made our wedding offbeat: We made up our own ceremony to be exactly what we wanted it to be, which meant throwing out most traditional elements. Being part of a Pagan community, this wasn’t so surprising to our friends, but what may have surprised them was that we threw out most of the Pagan handfasting traditions as well, since they didn’t really speak to us either.

Wedding porn: Mr. and Mrs. Ward’s colorful wedding

Mr and Mrs WardNow these are my kind of wedding colors. The chartreuse wedding dress! The red shoes! The purple shirt and tie!

I would be remiss if I didn’t include the coordinated wedding cake and father of the bride’s tie.

And don’t forget about the mum of the groom’s fabulous hat! Oh, and I love the paper decorations and lovely placesettings.

Tim and Helen had a stunning wedding. If you need some non-budget inspiration — wow, check them out. I think I have a crush on them.

UPDATE: Lots of DIY details over here!

kdskate34Every now and then I see wedding pictures that make me immediately blurt out “I WANT TO KNOW THESE PEOPLE!” That in mind, here are five reasons Kyla & Dylan’s wedding at the Scott Carpenter Skatepark in Boulder looks awesome:

1. Love the bouquet.
2. Check out how they got down the aisle.
3. The bride’s maroonish veil is awesome.
4. I want to adopt the whole family.
5. And how rad are the bride’s shoes?

Check out the full set.

After a little web snooping, I even found their wedding video! *swoon*

What made our wedding offbeat: After 10 years together, we decided to throw a big fat funky retro wedding. We had a tight budget so I made everything: invitations, wedding cake, favors, order of service, seven bridesmaid dresses — not to mention my own dress. And I did it all in keeping with our pink and green theme.
