The Offbeat Bride: Rachael, Neurobiology grad student and researcher (and hard-workingOBT mod)

My Offbeat Partner: Dustin, Writer and English major

Location & date of the wedding: Wyndham St. Anthony Hotel, San Antonio, TX — 06/07/2008

What made our wedding offbeat: Those that know us personally, really got it. Allow me to explain: Dustin is the very essence of a hippie writer, but taken in the tradition of Hunter S. Thompson, and I have always been the crazy Asian goth (I play with brains all day — it doesn't get any more gothic-mad-scientist-y than that!).

Remember that Venician wedding featured last week? Here's the full scoop!

The Offbeat Bride: Sam, alternative model

My Offbeat Partner: Chris, postdoctoral researcher

Location & Date of wedding: Palazzo Zenobio, Venice, Italy — 25th February 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We wanted something that just felt right to us. Chris and I had visited Venice for the first time in 2008 during Carnivale. We were already secretly engaged, but found a gorgeous ring on the Rialto and announced the engagement when we returned to the UK.

I am absolutely in love with this head-to-toe striped ensemble. A little goth, a little vaudeville, a little circus — all stunning.

…Perhaps I'm a teeny bit biased — I own a version of the custom bustle jacket by Kambriel that the bride is wearing.

But it's not just about the jacket — look at that hat! The little adorable top hat! I know this is my second top hat in a week, but I love them! Looks like this one was made by Topsy Turvy Design.

Lots more pictures from this fabulously goth Ohio wedding on acid_poptart's livejournal.

Things I like about this adorable couple:

  1. Groom's cutie curly mohawk
  2. Bride's dress that hints at gothic, but doesn't overwhelm
  3. Bride's proudly displayed bridal ink
  4. Their cute matching skate shoes!

Check out more shots from Brooke and Joe's wedding. The photographer, Crystal Bock, describes it as "Part gothic-chic, part skater-cool."
