Location & date of wedding: In the Sacred Grove on Wooly Bugger Farm near Scottsville, Virginia. This is a relatively uncultivated piece of land that sits on the James River and is owned by the groom's family. September 21, 2010

What made our wedding offbeat: Zombies, robots, bunnies, frogs, and betta fish — all in one theme! We roasted pizza, marshmallow s'mores, lots of beer, and galumphing. Sacred Grove is on the edge of a farm, so there were goats, chickens, turkeys, and dogs running around everywhere. We had awesome jars of honey, made from wildflowers by bees on the farm, which we gave away as wedding favors.

"Can you imagine having a bus-full of white people going around Mumbai to buy saris, salwar kameez, bangles, bindis AND bargain? " I can image it and it sounds fuckin' awesome!

This wedding proves tradition can be totally offbeat! How? Get married under a historical oak your ancestors married under, don the traditional clothing of your respective religions, or honor your heritage with you ceremony musician.

Fate intervened when Cathy & Jon found an amazing venue on a marina in Canada … they just had to tell their families they were eloping.

After browsing the Offbeat Bride Flickr pool this week, I started obsessing over all of these fabulously ornate and historically influenced wedding costumes. Let me tell you, the details on these outfits are impressive. Now, I share with you a couple of fabulous Renn Faire dresses, some stately steampunk gear, and two fantastic vintage duos.

A little bit country, a whole lotta rock 'n roll … and a pornographic letter as a reading? Can you say amazeballs?!? As if the kick-ass tutu dress wasn't ball-out enough …

Maureen & Ian had an Old Hollywood meets modern nerdy New Year's wedding complete with a light saber fight in the middle of the ceremony and light saber favors!

Stacey & Mike had a post-legal-wedding handfasting. Stacey had her mom, whom she described as her best friend, be one of her bridesmaids and she wore a beautiful long red dress.
