5 best quotes from the marriage equality decision to use in your ceremony
While we still have so far to go and so many potential obstacles in our path, I wanted to call out some ways to include the recent advances from Obergefell v. Hodges (the SCOTUS marriage equality case in which the Court held that the right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples under the Constitution) into your ceremony. Here are some of my favorite lines to pull into your equality-focused ceremony.
The Arkenstone of weddings: a barefoot Hobbit-themed wedding
When it comes to Lord of the Rings weddings, this barefoot Hobbit-themed wedding wins all the Arkenstones. Lanterns, elven bridesmaids, a crown headpiece, hobbit groomsmen (and groom!), and even a dwarf! Gandalf the Grey presided over the ceremony and they ate Hobbit hole cake. There’s so much Tolkien goodness to see, on top of the already amazing silver dress, purple hair, and epic costumes. This pair won’t be throwing their rings into Mount Doom anytime soon.
Taking off the makeup to reveal this gorgeously simple couples’ shoot
Andy and Justin won this gorgeously simple couples’ shoot from their photographer and we couldn’t dig it harder. Despite the fact that Andy (aka one of Cheltenham’s premier drag artistes, Pandora La Roux) spends much of his time wearing a wig, a dress, and five inches of makeup, this shoot was simply about love and gorgeous scenery. Sometimes less is more when it comes to showing the lurve. Let’s peek in the window at the romantic side of this pair…
A REAL rainbow totally blessed this same sex engagement shoot
Are you kidding me with this serendipity? William and Rob were taking engagement photos around downtown Omaha when they ran across this gorgeous fountain with sunlight hitting it just right. SO right that it cast a practically perfect in every way REAL rainbow. Come on, this is adorable. I’m going double rainbow wild over here. Okay, maybe not that wild (that was pretty flippin’ wild, if you remember), but it is pretty rad.
We’ve got rainbow heart eyes for these two and their real rainbow engagement. Let’s see if you do, too…
This super chic vintage tropical wedding wins our hearts
Looking at this wedding is like being transported into a 1950s-era South Seas movie set. From dapper-as-hell, perfectly cut suits (floral! metallic! bold colors! our hearts!), kitschy tchotchkes from their home, milk glass planters, vintage ceramic figurines, antique cameo brooches, there is so much to take in.
Anthony and Michael-Birch are two artists (musician and embroiderer), and took a surprisingly practical approach to their stylish wedding. They wanted to keep things simple, focusing on putting on a fun celebration but not breaking the bank or getting carried away with old traditions or extraneous decorations.
