Here's to the last day of "geek week" weddings and the end to the count-down the book reading! And do I got a doozy for ya… See what happens when two comic book dorks fall in love. I'll give you hint — utter amazingness. -Megan

Hooray! The offbeat bride: Ann, Reservations Agent, Dork, and Sewing Superhero (and OBT member "Ann Verleg")

Her offbeat partner: Sean, Kitchen Manager, Dork and Ann’s personal Chef

Location & date of wedding: St. Andrews on the Square Kamloops, British Columbia Canada — October 31st, 2009 Halloween

What made our wedding offbeat: Our quest was to make our wedding hilariously fun and heartfelt. Everything was about us and our weird and wonderful imagination. We had a Viking themed ceremony that included a sword ceremony and dowry exchange, a dorktastic photo shoot in the park and at the comic book store where we met, a reception complete with beard contest and a pajama party/gift opening at breakfast.

Portrait before ceremonyThe Offbeat Bride: Pinkee, video marketing

Her Offbeat Partner: Pony, manager of adult store

Location & date of wedding: Forest Lawn Cemetery/Rec Center Studio, Los Angeles, CA — 11/01/09

What made our wedding offbeat: Firstly, we planned the whole thing ourselves. We utilized our amazing group of talented friends for photography, DJing skills, coordinating abilities, and helping hands to help us hang lights and set up tables the morning of. Our tribe pulled through for us and made it spectacular, and we couldn't be more grateful.

The Offbeat Bride: Maria, Graphic Designer (and OBT member)

Her Offbeat Partner: Dave, Roofer/Musician

Location & date of wedding: The Music House Museum in Traverse City, Michigan — Oct. 17, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We waited a long, long time for this. Dave and I met on the school bus and have been best friends for sixteen years. After nine years of putting off a wedding due to financial reasons, we finally decided to tie the knot at the courthouse (for health insurance — so romantic). We wanted to keep it a secret until the real ceremony, two years later, but Dave's mom found out and soon did everyone! Getting sick of family grilling us with questions, we decided, on a whim, to plan the ceremony and get "weddinged" in just six weeks! All for under $4000.

The offbeat bride: Fanny, Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Graphic novelist wannabe (and OBT member "Fanny Rdz")

Her offbeat partner: Luis, Helpdesk, geek and muse

Location & date of wedding: Ceremony: Parroquia Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. Reception: Akbal Lounge, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico — October 31th, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: Luis and I where supposed to get married in July of this year in a wedding according to our culture and our families… but we aren't like that (I don't drink, he don't dance, we hate crowds and many other things). On July of 2009 we canceled everything, except our photographer and adventure, to have our wedding for Halloween, to be ourselves.

The offbeat bride: ElisaBethe, Loan Officer

Her offbeat partner: Chris, Pipe-fitter

Location & date of wedding: Neighborhood park in Atascocita, TX — 05/23/09

What made our wedding offbeat: First we were planning a big wedding. Then I got pregnant and we decided to elope. At the last minute, we decided, instead, to hold a tiny park wedding, and only invite our immediate family; about twenty people.

I was seven months pregnant, and we decided to wear bright blue in honor of our little boy on the way. My dress was $6.00 at Charlotte Russe! I made a feather and faux flower bouquet the day of with decorations from Hobby Lobby, and wore feathers in my hair picked up that day as well. When I got my make-up done, I requested "a mardi gras mask for my eyes."
