Sometimes you plan an intimate NOLA elopement, and sometimes life gets in the way. So when life prevented this couple from doing just that, they decided to plan an elegant hometown wedding with friends and family instead. And this beach-side family party with stone warming ceremony is just perfect for our Simple Weddings week. These two were not getting married — no way, no how. Except then they did, which made the whole shebang offbeat in itself. On top of that, they opted for a casual, outdoor ceremony with some kick-ass barbecue afterwards from the local joint they love. It was simple, small, and perfect for these two, who exemplify our simple weddings week. Day of the Dead details in a gorgeous outdoor venue plus Halloween masks means a double holiday-themed wedding in Texas. The bride almost had a dress tragedy, but you'd never know it from the way her red gown looks. The bride also collects Mexican art and her love shows in all the DIY elements. These are a few of this couple's favorite things: horror movies, art deco decor, vintage fashion, their puppies, raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens… oh wait, scratch the last two. But take the rest of them and smoosh them together for a rad rooftop shindig with lots of DIY. They also dressed their gender-blind wedding party in retro gear making for some killer photos. And don't get too jealous that they had a second reception in Hawaii! These two like photobooths — so much so that the groom proposed in one. So what better photobooth opportunity could there be than a costume party? The ceremony was the night before the reception so the couple could go FULL-ON costume for the party. And let me tell you, it was worth it. A ring warming, candy buffet, awesome costumes, and a hint of vintage give us a lot to love in the Halloween week entry. |
