It’s the week of Christmas and we’re immersing ourselves in ornament bouquets, holly-covered cake toppers, luxe green capes, and snow-covered weddings in Canada… just like this one! These two may be brave for having an outdoor ceremony in January, but it was the perfect opportunity to pull all the stops with hand-crocheted scarves and hats for the bridesmaids and bundled a capella serenades.

Home-brewed beer (including beer ceremony), an Elvis officiant, a hilarious camp wedding guide, and a cocktail hour with lawn games and merit badges — you’ve just described my perfect camp-out party. Don’t even get us started on the tearful first look, the Sharpie pre-tattoo rings, the dads’ pre-ceremony chest bump, and the time-traveling video invitation. Oh, and there’s one more video that we’re keeping a secret. Trust me, you have to see it.

For a lot of women, their first experience with a structural shaping garment other than a bra is a corset-back wedding dress — and they quickly learn that a corset is a bit more complicated to wear than a bra. (What, you mean I have to reach in and shift stuff around to get it sitting right?) When you compress the average torso in a corset, the person’s back skin tends to fold a bit on itself. This is commonly referred to as “back cleavage” or the “Venus Fold.” Let’s talk about it.

Put on your goggles and your neo-Victorian gear, because this is STEAMPUNK WEEK! Today we’ve got a burner-meets-upcycled-meets-kid-friendly celebration including fire dancing, a community-planned potluck, and a sweet ceremony interruption by the couple’s little girl. It’s laid-back and free-form and we’re loving it!

Pink hair, custom medieval dress, and goblets of mead? I think we’ve got ourselves an awesome Dutch/English bilingual handfasting! Add in a rad archery session, lots of fantasy and medieval garb, and a fairy tale retelling of the couple’s love story, and you’ll never want to travel back to the present day.
