What made our wedding offbeat: We partied the only way we know how. Go big or go home. Everything we did for this wedding was unique and true to us. Every detail was customized to our style and anything we couldn’t find we built/made ourselves.We didn’t bother to take ourselves too seriously and made the ceremony and reception the best party of our lives.

Location & date of wedding: Forest (ceremony) and a haunted 1920’s Log Mansion called Gold Mountain Manor (reception) - Big Bear, CA on September 26th, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: I knew I wanted my wedding to be a little… dark. I didn’t want a full on black and red gothic wedding. I wanted it to look like you were attending a wedding in Victorian times, but not happy bubblegum Main Street at Disneyland Victorian. A little darker, like a haunted mansion!

What made our wedding offbeat: Last December, while in Vietnam, we posted a blog mentioning a possible future destination wedding in Long Hai. We’d never before mentioned marriage, so it was a surprise to friends and family that not only were we thinking about a wedding, we also expected them to fly to southeast Asia.

What made our wedding offbeat: Our ceremony was incredibly personal. Our reception was more of a dinner party and the whole experience felt intimate and truly sacred. My inspiration was to throw the wedding that Daisy and Gatsby never got to have (that’s the English teacher speaking).
