The offbeat bride: Emi, Barbershop Receptionist/Manager (and OBT member)

Her offbeat partner: Trevor, Call Center Supervisor

Location & date of wedding: Aunt Karla's Backyard Garden, Portland, OR — 07/18/2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We really didn't hire anyone for anything. We had a few rentals delivered (tables, chairs, our Honeybucket) from outside vendors, but we did all the food & drinks, cupcakes, table settings and flowers, decor, etc., ourselves (that is, with TONS of help from family and friends).

The Offbeat Bride: Sarah, Social Worker and student

Her Offbeat Partner: Paul, Web Developer at Minnesota Public Radio

Location & date of wedding: Minnehaha Falls Park and our back yard in south Minneapolis, MN — September 20, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: Our wedding was offbeat for several reasons. First, we had a short engagement (four months) and we stuck to a very reasonable budget. Second, we kept everything really simple, we had a small wedding party of my sister and Paul's best friend.

The Offbeat Bride: Mary, school librarian

Her Offbeat Partner: Adam, writer

Location & date of wedding: Lucy the Elephant, Margate City, NJ — 4/18/2009

What made our wedding offbeat: First of all, because it happened with the help of our friends and family instead of vendors. Adam's mom made our amazing (and delicious) Lucy-shaped cake. A lifelong friend did my hair. Family members decorated blank prayer flags as decorations. My sister and I made the bouquets from supermarket flowers the day before the wedding. Everyone pitched in to pour champagne at the reception. Honestly, our wedding would have been crap without everyone's participation. It made the whole event much more fun and meaningful.

The offbeat bride: Kelly, Business Consultant

Her offbeat partner: Cory, Musician

Location & date of wedding: On the beautiful white beaches of Navarre, Florida down below our beach house, on September 27th, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: Well… we could probably start with the bride wearing black. The lady (myself) wore a 1950's Rockabilly, classic black & red satin & polka dot strapless dress with boned bodice and a hem that hit below the knees AND I purchased it for under $100.00 which was totally awesome!
