Bride profiles: Chelsie & Francesco’s steampunk wedding

September 5th, 2008 · Posted by Ariel

The CoupleThe offbeat bride: Chelsie, Wildlife Biologist

Her offbeat partner: Francesco, Aerospace Engineer

Location & date of wedding: Dancing Horse Ranch in Paso Robles, Ca.
08 August 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: Our wedding theme was Steampunk (with a subtheme of Make New Friends!), our friend Kat officiated our wedding and we wrote our own ceremony. Also all of our “vendors” were friends! My make-up artist, the photographers, the DJ, the caterers — we all knew them and it seemed like there were no strangers at our wedding. Haley & Joe are totally Burners, and since half my friends are at Burning Man this week, I figured it was the perfect time to feature this fabulously PORANGE wedding!

Her offbeat partner: Joe, Engineer

Location & date of wedding: Joaquin Miller Park Cascade, Oakland, CA. June 29, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: My favorite color is pink, he likes orange. I like cats, he likes rabbits. So instead of having a wedding where I picked everything and he said, “Yes Dear” this wedding was all about our “Us-ness”. Pink and orange make Porange, and Porange suits us.

Location & date of wedding: Ottawa, ON (Canada), married at the Army Officer’s Mess. June 23rd, 2007

Our cake topper was a Lego couple that I put together myself from diverse pieces I’d ordered online.

katie&leeThe offbeat bride: Kate Davies, Barmaid

My offbeat groom: Lee Davies, Delivery Driver

Location & date of wedding: September 3rd, 2005 in Ammanford, South Wales

What made our wedding offbeat: After 10 years together, we decided to throw a big fat funky retro wedding. We had a tight budget so I made everything: invitations, wedding cake, favors, order of service, seven bridesmaid dresses — not to mention my own dress. And I did it all in keeping with our pink and green theme.
