The offbeat bride: Julie Ke, Sign Artist

Her offbeat partner: Jonny, Chef

Location & date of wedding: Forest House Lodge in Foresthill, CA on October 10th, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: I have never been the "wedding planning" kind of girl, and never thought too much about weddings until I met my Jonny Boy. We are both pretty offbeat in our daily lives, so it only made sense that we should plan a wedding that truly reflected our personalities.

I'm an Offbeat Bride for Halloween! After working on offbeatbride.com for almost two years now (and Offbeat Bride the book for another year before that!) I've started to see some definite trends in offbeat bride styles.

I mean yes: we're all doing our own thang, but there are definitely elements that seem to pop up repeatedly in offbeat weddings.

To celebrate this, I decided that this Halloween I would dress up as, well, YOU! I wanted to see how many offbeat bride trends I could pack into one outfit.

No one in Seattle will get this costume at all — "goth drag queen?" "weird mary poppins?" — but I don't care. I did it for y'all because I love your style.

SO, how many offbeat trends can you see in these shots? We'll start easy: Red wedding dress? Check. Actually a prom dress? Check. Purchased off eBay? Check!

The offbeat bride: Grace, Library Clerk

Her offbeat partner: Thomas, Warehouse Material Handler

Location & date of wedding: Inniswood Metropark Westerville Ohio – October 3rd, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: After plans for a low-key affair with family and friends didn't quite materialize as we had envisioned it, we decided to buck tradition and "elope," so to speak. We didn't, however, want to sacrifice any of the romance or ritual we loved in wedding ceremonies. So we agreed to get married at an absolutely gorgeous local park.

2008.08.08-12.16.19-1The offbeat bride: Danica

Her offbeat partner: Mike

Location & date of wedding: Newcastle Island, Canada – August 8th, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: We kept it simple. I made all the cupcakes for the guests (all ninety! WHEW! Transporting them was a BITCH). We had our talented photographer friend Aki walk on stilts.

I'm double Offbeat! Pregnant, tattooed and I wore white!

You all remember Megan, aka Princess Lasertron, right? You've seen her on obb.com before … She of the pink polkadot wedding dress? She of the magenta crinoline? She of the magical felt-and-button wedding bouquet?

If you were drooling specifically over the button bouquet, you are in luck because Princess Lasertron makes them for a living. Well, bouquets along with boutonnieres, barrettes, and tons of other felty, buttony, vintage magic. Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Megan says "I spend a LOT of time searching for vintage materials to make my products. Every bouquet features mostly vintage buttons and other antique findings like ribbon, seam binding, thread, and felt. (But nothing dull or dingey!)"

You can buy her goods on Etsy at princesslasertron.etsy.com, read more about her process on princesslasertron.com and drown in button bouquet wedding porn on her Flickr photostream.
