Portraits at the Naro

So you say you don't want to get married in a church, but it's autumn so you're not doing it outside or in your backyard.

Bars aren't really your style and while cave is cool and lofts are swank … you want something different.

Nikki & Avi and have a great suggestion for you: their wedding was held at Norfolk, Virginia's Naro Cinema!

The photos are total eye-candy, from the fabulous paper-flower centerpieces to the OM NOM NOM fruit spread and the minimalist autumnal look of the whole movie house wedding. (Bonus: Nikki rocked her glasses through the thang.)

So, go: Feast your eyes!

The offbeat bride: Grace, Library Clerk

Her offbeat partner: Thomas, Warehouse Material Handler

Location & date of wedding: Inniswood Metropark Westerville Ohio – October 3rd, 2008

What made our wedding offbeat: After plans for a low-key affair with family and friends didn't quite materialize as we had envisioned it, we decided to buck tradition and "elope," so to speak. We didn't, however, want to sacrifice any of the romance or ritual we loved in wedding ceremonies. So we agreed to get married at an absolutely gorgeous local park.

Her offbeat partner: Jenn, typist

Location & date of wedding: Our meadow, Basom, NY. September 29, 2007

What made our wedding offbeat: We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of our deepest spirits – and said spirits just happen to have wings ;D

My wife is very much a Winter person, and I'm very much an Autumn person – so we came up with a vision of how we'd pull it off. Our dresses were sewn by my wife's mother, and we ordered wings that would reflect the seasons. We couldn't imagine a more magical place than our own meadow/backyard to get married in, so we dressed it up as a Faerie meadow – ribbons, flower petals and branches with autumn leaves were everywhere.

Her offbeat partner: Laurie, German studies scholar and language teacher

Location & date of wedding: The Night Kitchen restaurant at the Montague Book Mill, Montague, MA

What made our wedding offbeat: Probably the most "offbeat" aspect of our wedding, aside from our gayness and my burgundy gown (are those things even offbeat anymore? Please!), was our dress code: we specifically instructed our guests to Outshine the Bride. It was right there on our website and in the invitation, and our guests did an amazing job!

Remember Raina, the autumn bride who wore her mom's dress? Here's the full scoop on her library wedding!

KissThe offbeat bride: Raina, Graphic Designer

Her offbeat groom: Mike / freelance photographer & TV production guy

Location & date of wedding: The Clayville town library in Clayville, NY

What made our wedding offbeat: We really wanted to save a lot of money and keep it simple, simple, SIMPLE! We only had 7 people at the ceremony besides the two of us.

We did it at the tiny library in the town I grew up in. It was perfect because it was so small on the inside, and it happed to be a church at one point which lent itself to the layout of the ceremony well. We didn't have a religious ceremony but it was kind of cute to be in an old church turned library (and my job involves designing book jackets, so it was extra special!).
