The Offbeat Bride: Julie, Account Executive

Her Offbeat Partner: Stephanie, Senior Boarding Manager at a Doggy Daycare

Location & date of wedding: San Francisco Zoo – San Francisco, CA — May 30, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: I guess the obvious answer here would be along the lines of two brides, zero white dresses, etc. — probably not so "offbeat" anymore, and certainly not in the Bay Area.

Outside of our pre-election, City Hall “quickie,” this was the first gay or lesbian wedding that either of us had been to, so we really felt like we had an opportunity here to make this our own versus the cookie-cutter wedding that too many people have. Wedding cuteness overload I tell you.

Check out the slideshow below for more photos of a cute groom riding a cute elephant and I hope you enjoyed this first ever "Elephun Elephant Week."

The Offbeat Bride: Kimi, artist and designer

Her Offbeat Partner: Paul, artist and museum worker

Location & Date of wedding: Audubon Boathouse, Prospect Park Brooklyn — 9/12/2008

What made our wedding offbeat: I'm half-Japanese Hawaiian and half Jewish, and my now-husband is an ex-Mormon, so tradition was out the window. All we wanted was a good party that felt like us. We splurged some, we scrimped lots. We made everything, except the building and catered stuff, by hand. So on the day of our wedding everything was pure us.
