Us in the Rainforest

UsThe Offbeat Bride: Linda, Writer/Doll Maker

Her offbeat partner: Stephen, Web Designer

Location and date of wedding: Minnamurra Rainforest and Gerringong, NSW Australia — 19/11/09

What made our wedding offbeat: Our wedding was offbeat because we really wanted to focus on making the whole experience fun.

This began with hand drawn 'zine' style invitations by our friend Helen and golden Wonka tickets for our guests.

Our ceremony was held deep in a rainforest under a giant fig tree. We chose the location because I have loved it ever since I was a child. (I used to think fairies lived in the tree!)

The offbeat bride: Samantha, Fashion Designer

Her offbeat partner: Ryan, student/cook/construction worker

Location & date of wedding: Central Park's Alice in Wonderland Statue, New York, NY — October 31, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We had a planned elopement to NYC so we could get married in front of the Alice in Wonderland statue on Halloween. My biggest inspiration as a designer and artist is Alice and we figured it would be the perfect place to start our new adventures together.

"Saving the Princess since 1985"

While perusing the OBT, as I do, I often come upon brides using pins as creative ways to personalize their weddings. I've been giving you tastes of little crocheted elements from OBT member Corinne's wedding planning updates — now it's time to get all the details from her actual wedding!

The Offbeat Bride: Corinne – Receptionist/Crafter

Her Offbeat Partner: Jesse – Kennel Technician/Dog Walker/Artist/Home Brewer/Haunted House Actor

Location & date of wedding: Jesse's brother's backyard in Wheat Ridge, CO — June 27, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: Jesse and I don't like to be the center of attention, and since we've been together for ten years, we decided to make our wedding as much fun as possible and not so much about us but more about our families and friends.

OBT member Corinne inundated the tribe with some of the fabulous DIY projects that she and her fiance have been making for their Alice in Wonderland themed wedding. OBT members can see all of the projects by checking out her wedding update here.

But we were really delighted by her twist on on Naomi's ornament/lights bouquet. Corinne made it her own by adding some awesome crocheted flowers to the mix!
