Queer black Baltimore realness: a drag king and a burlesque performer get married

"Chris is an award-winning drag king and Sydney is a burlesque performer. Needless to say, this means our wedding was very theatrical." The dress code was "not basic," and they saw outfits ranging from sequin cocktail dresses to leprechaun costumes, to drag, to ALF. They walked down the aisle, catwalk-style, to a gay dance club classic, "Din Daa Daa" by George Kranz. Sydney's 35-year old brother was the ring bearer and her 98-year old grandmother made it rain with a Cash Cannon as the "flower girl." Y'all NEED to see this amazing queer black Baltimore spectacle!

Here's why wedding photography can absolutely be transcendent art

We've talked to a lot of photographers who love to stretch their artistic muscles and push boundaries in their art. There's skill in finding those shots that have the Golden Ratio or that channel the Fibonacci Sequence. The photo that transcends into art due to a interesting composition, magical color combinations, or, let's face it, mad skills in Photoshop.

We reached out to our stellar vendor community to see what kinds of wedding photography as art we could showcase. They did NOT disappoint.

Are my slacker bridesmaids dropping the ball or is it me?

I am feeling overwhelmed, angry, sad, and just not looking forward to my wedding. It has been nothing but pulling teeth for me to get literally everyone to do their part. I have gotten our parents and my fiancé to understand that they need to do their part, but my bridesmaids have been twiddling their thumbs.

Have I not been stressing the importance of these little things? How do I tell people I want them more active and to do their job without being a bridezilla?

This bride altered her original wedding gown for her gorgeous vow renewal

My husband, Anindeep, and I came to our tenth wedding anniversary very much different people than we were so long ago, now personally and emotionally more enriched. We decided a vow renewal was necessary to celebrate ourselves in this new chapter in realizing our individual selves and expressing our togetherness more meaningfully to each other.

Photography (duh) and fashion are priorities for me, so with NO attire budget and exponentially growing dressmaking skills, I suddenly found the confidence to alter my own wedding gown.

How to make antiqued paper for your historical or fantasy wedding

We're getting married next month and having a pirate-themed wedding. Any bits of paper we needed (whether invitations, signs, or treasure-hunt clues) I decided to make look old and pirate-y.

This technique would also be great for medieval, historical, steampunk, fantasy, or Victorian themes. Some of you may have done something like this at school, but this is such a simple yet effective bit of DIY I just had to share it!

She's got a breadth of photography experience that expands much farther than just weddings. She's even worked as an event photographer and as set photographer for television and indie movies.

Here are a few reasons we heart Deb Huber and why you will, too…

The magic that makes handmade wedding rings become heirlooms

Looking at engagement rings and wedding bands can be an exercise in sameness. And if there's anything we know about offbeat couples, it's that they are into something different and something authentic to them. That's why we get a little giddy when we find a jeweler that goes above and beyond to make customized handmade wedding rings and jewelry for couples who want something that isn't the same old thing. And we're extra giddy for our partner Hunt Country Jewelers.
