Jeweled peacocks and gourmet donuts at this Portland meets India wedding

Following a month-long trip and a traditional wedding in India, Jess and Chintan returned home to Portland, Oregon for a low key, small, and simple wedding with friends that took place on April Fool's Day. The day began with a civil ceremony at Multnomah County Courthouse where the judge was gifted with a custom cake by Dream Cakes. Jessica rocked a custom-made gown, gold Loubotins, and gold sequin Converse for the reception.

After taking a romantic pedicab tour around the city, they returned home to their newly built house with their friends and family for treats from Voodoo Donuts and Poplandia popcorn following a dinner of sweet and savory grilled sandwiches from local food trucks, PBJ’s Grilled and Koi Fusion. It was delicious, gorgeous, and a total fusion of their favorite things.

A shredding wedding: snowboarding post-nuptials is a total win

Twee and John had a small and heartfelt snowboarding wedding at Sapphire Point overlooking a frozen Lake Dillon and the mountains of Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado.

After their morning wedding, they decided to do what they loved doing together: hitting the slopes! Twee rocked a cheetah print shrug along with her dress, which covered almost her entire board and collected many pounds of snow and ice along the way. Are you ready to see this hardcore shredding wedding?

So, fellow Offbeat Foodies, here are my food festival-inspired finger foods that would be perfect for weddings…

Collect your jaw from the floor after this jewel-toned cocktail reception

Vintage goblets and accessories on the bar cart, a red velvet couch with a gold backdrop, rich, dramatic florals, and a lush rug to create a luxe sitting area — this jewel-toned cocktail reception styled shoot with Jessica and David totally captures the essence of bright colors. David's suit was custom-made for him in Thailand, and the personalized invitation suite was hand-painted by the photographer, who is also an artist (holy talent, Batman!).

A REAL rainbow totally blessed this same sex engagement shoot

Are you kidding me with this serendipity? William and Rob were taking engagement photos around downtown Omaha when they ran across this gorgeous fountain with sunlight hitting it just right. SO right that it cast a practically perfect in every way REAL rainbow. Come on, this is adorable. I'm going double rainbow wild over here. Okay, maybe not that wild (that was pretty flippin' wild, if you remember), but it is pretty rad.

We've got rainbow heart eyes for these two and their real rainbow engagement. Let's see if you do, too…

This satyr cosplay engagement brings serious magic to our Renaissance-loving hearts

Janee and Bill love all things Renaissance, and in unique fashion, Bill proposed to Janee at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. They also love cosplay and Janee creates all of their costuming herself, including these amazing satyr costumes for this year's Ren fest. On the opening weekend of the festival, Bill proposed with a gorgeous leaf silhouette ring.

For this satyr cosplay engagement session, they capitalized on all her hard work by spending the evening at Fountain Creek Nature Center, south of Colorado Springs. The pair passed out wildflower seeds to passersby and stole our nerdy hearts in the process. If THIS is their engagement session, what will their wedding bring? No pressure, guys…

Why it's totally okay to plan a wedding your way… even when you're told otherwise

When I asked Brian to marry me, tranquil and quiet energy swirled around us. In all the perfection that this was for us, I didn't expect the whirlwind that would come — the questions, assumptions, unsolicited advice, and all the "good things" that go along with an engagement in two large and loving families. Our quiet serenity on that beach on Toronto island slipped away from me so fast, I went looking for it in all the wrong places.

How cancer prepared me for wedding planning

When planning a wedding you have expectations, and ideas of what your big day should be, right? Sometimes life gets in the way of that. After 11.5 years of living with cancer, I'm getting married at the end of October 2016, and cancer has been the perfect trial and error for this entire process.

Cancer has been no walk in the park. But sometimes I have days where I can walk miles and still have energy to make dinner AND bake some vegan cookies. Other days, not so much.

"Will we need a corsage for your grandmother?" Grief and wedding planning

Those who have lost someone — and that is nearly all of us — can tell you that grief, rather than subsiding, simply assumes the traits of water molecules. Over an amount of time, never predictable, it changes shape from a solid pain to a fluid, familiar ache, an ache which leaves room for joy, for the ability to page through love-worn photo albums, for gratitude at ever having known and loved the person at all.

These are the ethical wedding rings that are making the world a better place

As someone who's constantly looking for new and awesome indie jewelers, I'm happy to explore the world of our sponsor Metalicious. Metalicious was started by Stephanie Maslow-Blackman, in a tiny corner of her apartment, where she made every ring by hand. Today she works with a small, hand-selected group of artisans in her New York studio — making each ring from recycled metals and ethically sourced gemstones. And, saving the world at the same time!

14 pairs of Bettie Page shoes for retro wedding realness

The name Bettie Page is of course SUPER evocative of retro glamour and good times, and so Bettie Page shoes definitely can definitely help up your vintage wedding footwear game. Browsing through all their styles, I found TONS of great options for retro weddings, and suuuuuper affordable prices… but of course with super-cheap shoes you run the risk of poor construction. That's just the reality of a pair of $30 shoes… but for those of you prioritizing short-term retro glamour, these shoes are pretty freaking sweet.
