Rebecca and Zach love their books and especially Harry Potter. They featured a few of their favorite works of literature in their ceremony and the reception took everything up to eleven. The reception was turned into a Harry Potter wonderland from a sorting hat seating chart, Daily Prophet programs, magic wands, sorting Hat Ravenclaw cake(!), and a totally themed “Anything from the trolley, dears” sweets table, the handmade details were spectacular. Even their music from the soundtracks was magical.

Time to get our Hogwarts on…

  1. You know what I think my favorite detail was out of all of it? The bride’s bouquet. Having one flower of each house color. That is brilliant. It’s all gorgeous and so well done and so impressive but for some reason that detail just stood up and shouted at me!

    • Thank you so much! I made everything myself, including the bouquet! I’m so glad someone else appreciated my little details!

  2. As a Ravenclaw, I’ve just got a ton of inspiration!

Beautiful, magical, and so fantastically nerdy. <3 Congrats!

  3. I LOVE the charitable favours idea! We are doing a donation but this would be a fun way to get the guests involved. Fab wedding – I love all the little details. My partner is not a book person unfortunately but I’m definitely going to sneak in a few references 🙂 that always candle is lovely. Congrats xx

  4. I would love to know more about how you did the food, especially the handmade-looking stuff like the cauldron cakes. How long did it take? Did you follow a specific recipe, or were you able to repurpose a packaged/mass-produced item? We want to do something similar for our wedding, but I’m concerned about spending five days before the event baking like a madwoman, and then not having enough food.

    • We’re from Pittsburgh so it’s traditional to have a cookie table. Everything was baked by our family for a couple weeks before the wedding. A lot of them can be frozen and then thawed out for the wedding. They took recipes they’ve already made for years, but we gave them a couple extras that we wanted specifically for our wedding (butter beer cookies, pumpkin pasties). The rest are cookies we make for every holiday, I just meshed them with names of sweets in the Harry Potter books.
