Announcing the birth of our sister site: Offbeat Mama!

Offbeat Bride Local: Las Vegas

So you're planning a wedding in Vegas! We've covered a ton of Las Vegas weddings, and have gathered our favorites for you to browse. We've got Real Offbeat Wedding features, packed with photos and vendor recommendations, as well as a ton of wedding porn oozing inspiration all over your browser window.

You'll also find a few vendor posts — these are photographers, officiants, and other folks who looooove catering to the unique needs of offbeat brides. We're super picky about the businesses we feature, so we think you'll like 'em…

The offbeat bride: Anke

Her offbeat partner: Dave

Location & date of wedding: Las Vegas, Nevada, A Special Memory Chapel — October 21st, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: First, excuse me for my bad English, we come from germany.

My hubby and I didn't ever want a "normal" wedding with a meringue colored dress and those embarassing games with our wedding party. In fact, we never wanted to marry because everlasting happiness can be there without certificates.

Thanks to your feedback from the 2010 Reader Survey, we've added more questions to the questionnaire we use to collect our real wedding profiles. We also added a way for people to self-identify themselves with tags — another suggestion from y'all! Here's the very first survey with the new questions.

VougeThe Offbeat Bride: Highland, Customer Service Manger and Hair/Makeup Stylist

Her Offbeat Partner: Jack, Wedding Photographer and Graphic Artist

Location & date of wedding: Floyd Lamb State Park, North Las Vegas, NV — January 24, 2010

What made our wedding offbeat: Jack is transgendered, and the way we decided to tell our family (well, Jacks half of the family, mine already called him, "he") is by having our officiant (who is also in an awesome rock band called Thrown Clear) pronounce us "Husband and Wife" and use all male pronouns throughout the ceremony.

_MG_6967 2The offbeat bride: Jessica

Her offbeat partner: Lorien, CEO of Pingg.com

Location & date of wedding: Wedding in Nevada desert, party in NYC loft — 10/3/09 wedding; 10/24/09 party

What made our wedding offbeat: Never a traditionalist. Always a rebel (unless it turns into a cliche). Terrified of weddings and every "walk down the aisle," "cut the cake" part of it.

The offbeat bride: Amanda, Medical Assistant/hair stylist

Her offbeat partner: Patrick, Softwear Control Libriarian

Location & date of wedding: Swan Garden Lakeside, Las Vegas Nevada — October 13th 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: After dating for 6 years, I asked HIM to marry me. We decided to go down to fabulous Las Vegas and tie the knot with Elvis in the least cheesy way as possible. It actually has always been the wedding I have always wanted. And it worked out for the best since all my family is from either Arizona or California.

The Offbeat Bride: Shyla, Home Maker

Her Offbeat Partner: Richard, Marine

Location & date of wedding: The Grove in Las Vegas, NV — Aug 29th, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We saved a fortune becasue it was a package Las Vegas wedding — we had a vow renewal ceremony as the big shin dig instead of the court-house wedding we had six months ago.

I got to wear my chucks and kick-ass stockings. We played the music we wanted at the reception. DId I mention we did a crap ton of it ourselves? The programs were amazing… okay so maybe i'm biased because we made a billion of them! Lol.

The Offbeat Bride: Teneisha, Imagination Specialist (and OBT member)

Her Offbeat Partner: Chris, Graphic Designer

Wedding Studio shotsI adore Jackie's amazing futuristic wedding dress — and the the fact that she made it herself makes it that much more fabulous.

Further awesomeness points for also making the cocktail hat she wore, and getting married on a pirate ship in Vegas, and doing it all on Leap Day.

Check out all the photos over here, and read more about how Jackie did it all in three months over on LJ's Anti-Bride Community.

(Thanks to nightwind for the photo!)
