caleb sarah alternative wedding ideas from Offbeat Wed (formerly Offbeat Bride)

Oh jeez, I can't help but love the hometown weddings, and a special thanks to Nyomi for emailing me about this wonderful Seattle wedding.

I've tried living in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and Boston … but I always find myself coming back to my beloved Seattle, in part because of people like Caleb and Sarah here, who I totally don't know but completely adore. There's just this Seattle spirit of playfulness crossed with down-to-earth sensibilities that these two capture perfectly.

Caleb & Sarah got married at Seattle's Gasworks Park, which (as the name suggests) used to be a gas plant and therefore has not only amazing views of downtown Seattle but also the most awesome post-apocalyptic industrial gasworks all over the place.

  1. Thanks for featuring this Ariel! I know Sarah and Caleb drew a lot of inspiration from your website. Even though I only know them a little (so far), their wedding showcased their distinct style and just… amazingness. 🙂

My favorite two photos (both not shown) are 1) of the close-up of the back of Sarah’s dress and 2) them kissing with the blue background

  2. This is so pretty! I LOVE old run-down industrial areas, and the contrast with their clothes is awesome.

  3. Dude. My sister’s friends got married there and the preacher was absent so my sister got ordained online and married them. 🙂

This couple looks really fun and cute. Neat colors.

  4. As a native born Seattlite, I am so proud. First you featured our beloved troll in a wedding and now our our industrial ruins park. I’m waiting for a guerilla wedding at ‘Waiting for the Interurban’ next. Seattle Rocks! So do those outfits, I want to learn more about tha dress she is wearing. Awesome.

  5. Yeah Seattle! We still haven’t picked a location for our wedding– not because it’s hard to find one but because it’s hard to find ONE. Seattle is just too full of amazing locations!!! (And people!)

  6. Wow, that is incredible!!! The colors! The lines! The sky! The clothes! I love love love seeing offbeat groom’s outfits, and that one’s amazing.

  7. Hi! So, I made my dress, using materials from the wonderfully helpful folks at The Galeria, on Northgate. The pattern for the corset was hand altered by me and my sister in law, the skirt was hand drafted, and all the grommets (which you can see in the facebook pictures, are hand bound. A process that, while tedious, is well worth the extra effort. Oh, and he got his suit from Redlight in the International district.

  8. These are stunning – love the post-apocalyptic steampunk feel of it. And Sarah you did an amazing job on your outfit.

Now I really HAVE to visit Seattle!

  9. Since I live in Seattle I had to check out your wedding. That is one of the most adorable and quirky wedding dresses I have ever seen! I LOVE it! Looks like such a FUN wedding. Congrats!
