Fire and ice and everything nice (and a hint of naughty)

In contrast to our simple weddings theme, the Offbeat Flickr Pool was sporting some funky details including icy drinking, fire dancing, and all things cute and sweet. It was quite the contrary mix of photos this week. But they are always awesome.

T-Rex Ice Jager Luge!
Nothing says lovin' like a T-Rex shaped Jager luge. Like this couple says, “A wedding's not a wedding without drinking chilled Jagermeister from the belly of a dinosaur. Science fact.”

And in other ice luge news, how about one that's shaped like a hot air balloon? For real! Here's a straight-on shot.

From the same wedding as above, we can see that the guests will be taking full advantage of said luge and getting their drank on! I'm also loving the cute parasol.

our entry escorted by fire dancers
Lara and Mark set the event on fire with their fire dancing escorts into the reception. And the fiery red hair? Sexy as hell!

Smurf Cake topper.
But what about all things nice? Does Rebecca and Dave's Smurf cake topper fit the bill? Love it.

The Kiss
I counted exactly one bajillion paper flowers. Was that how many you counted? But all that work was so worth it for this amazing archway.

Oh, hello puppy. I see you've stolen the spotlight. Maria and Mark's happy hound seems right at home in that tie.

Rockabilly Bridesmaids
Check out these rockabilly bridesmaids from our dino-luge wedding. The dresses have skulls! This deserves and A+ for bridal party styling.

Our Adorable Cake Topper
An elephant on a cake usually spells disaster. But in this case, tiny elephants are just the right size to serve as cake guardians.

Tribe member Bria and her groom Dustin look kind of naughty with that ball and chain. Thus endeth the circle of life in the world of montages.

Hey, photographers! I love you and do my best to attribute all Monday Montage photos, but sometimes brides don't include your info when they submit photos. If I've featured your work but it isn't properly credited, email me!

  1. hair tinsel is totally a thing. Just like the feathers thing, it started in middle schools. My son’s best girl friend (not girlfriend) just got some put in for her birthday. Its so cute. I’m tempted to get some, but i dont want to look like a 2nd grader!

    • I don’t know how I missed this trend. I totally think it could be chic though. Just no side ponytails and barrettes at the same time? 😉

  2. ooooh can we please please please get a tutorial on how to make those amazing paper flowers?!? (they look simple enough but I’m not super crafty and like to work from directions!)

    • Heyo!

^That is where I got the inspiration, and the official tutorial!
Super, super, super easy! Like, seriously. If you’re going to take on a feat like a massive arch-get your friends involved! I can’t even tell you how many hours we spent tracing petals, cutting them all out, then stapling them together.
If you need some help or have any questions, hit me up! =D

      • Your arch is the most amazing arch EVER! I love it! I plan to something similar for mine:) I just tried one out, I used cardstock and it doesn’t look nearly as nice as your flowers do… how did you hide all the staples:( Any hints to make these look smoother?

        • Hey Abby!
          Thanks for the compliment!! =D
I didn’t ever figure out a way to hide the stapes all together, but if you staple closer to the center and further from the flower edge, it’s less obvious. With the end result, you don’t even notice all the stapes! =D
If you are planning on doing something like we did (an arch FULL of flowers), the overall look of the individual flowers doesn’t matter. When you start putting them on the arch structure, you can manipulate the flowers by layering, or picking a part flowers to have petal fillers.

There’s a close up. You can see my staples and see that on some of them there is even a big gap at the center or around the petals.

Just keep practicing and messing around with petal shapes. I had three different styles: a big wide one that looked like a hershey kiss, a small leafy one, and then a larger leafy one. =]
