Not sure if you know this about me, but aside from writing about weddings and home decor, I also write about food! I have my own side project called Treats & Geeks, where I and my fiancé (geeks) share all the culinary offerings that LA has to offer (treats!). Our recent excursion was to a big food festival where all of the best restaurants in LA showed up with some of their best offerings.

Because it was a festival, all the bites were of the finger food variety. And, because of my job, I couldn't help but think “these would be great at a wedding!” So, fellow offbeat foodies: here are my food festival-inspired finger foods that would be perfect for weddings…

Chicken and waffle tacos

I fell in love with this chicken and waffle taco with whiskey-infused syrup. It was all the goodness of chicken and waffles without any of the hassle of utensils!

Peanut butter and jelly sliders

These were AMAZING. Chunky peanut butter on top, jelly on the bottom, and some of them (not on the one pictured) also featured bacon with the meat patty. A couple bites of pure heaven.

Lamb chops don't have to be huge! These small bites of lamb were perfect and so incredibly good.

Arancinis

Arancinis are rice balls, stuffed with yumminess, then coated with bread crumbs and then deep-fried. These are broccoli arancinis, but I also love me some cheese arancinis too.

Mini weenies

Much like sliders, mini weenies are the perfect small bite of big meat. These were pork belly hot dogs with pickled Hatch chiles and fresh scallions, served on a grilled Hawaiian roll.

Sambusas

These sambusas were triangular-shaped savory pies, stuffed with lentils, grilled onions, jalapeños and herb fillings.

Donuts

Cake is way too messy to eat with your hands. You can serve donuts of all sizes and flavors as your finger food dessert!

Ice cream sandwiches

This was a tiny S'mores ice cream sandwich, and it completed me. But regular-sized non-gourmet ice cream sandwiches would complete your wedding just as much.

Those are my take-aways as amazing food festival-themed wedding finger foods. Who else did a finger foods menu? What did you serve?

  1. This is perfect! I was just recently wishing it wasn’t impossible to have chicken and waffles as hors d’oeuvres. I’ve never been so happy to be wrong about something!
