Continue reading » I saw this starburst-y, feathery makeup look on Pinterest and instantly fell in love with it thinking it would be amazing for a contemporary masquerade look (sans mask), an '80s wedding, or any theme that demands an epic makeup look. I've pulled a few other tutorials that would also lend themselves to a modified masquerade, fairy wedding, or just a kick-ass bold bride. Do you love Mad Men style? The How-To Hair Girl, Roxie Hunt, released a video with a tutorial for a modernized Mad Men-style updo that would be a pretty easy style to rock on your wedding day. Check out the video plus a few other retro styles for inspiration including '40s victory rolls, '60s bouffants, and short bangs with curls! You can do tiny buttons, giant buttons, square buttons, buttons shaped like dinosaurs — whatever you can think of, you can make. Want some dainty blue butterflies down the back of your gorgeous white ball gown? Can do. Want some larger gears for your steampunk ensemble? Can do. Want some old skool Nintendo gamepads? Can do. Sky's the limit. And here's how to pull it off… I found my perfect wedding shoes, but I couldn't afford them. So what's an Offbeat To-Be-Wed to do? DIY, obviously! This project is not for the faint of heart, but if you're still with me, then let's get started. I stumbled on these old skool Apple logo nails and felt inspired to find any and all geektastic nail tutorials! I know some of ya'll are going to love these and may be inspired to rock them down the aisle. We've got Doctor Who, Harry Potter, TMNT, Angry Birds, Super Mario, and moar! Check it out. Megan sent me this updo tutorial for a Superficial Snack and we knew it would inspire some casual, floofy, and BIG updos! This one has lots of teasing for body, but looks totally doable, perfect for a headpiece, and not at all fussy or pretentious. |
