Wedding Shoes

We love dorking out on loud, funky, cute, colorful, comfortable, and dare we say alternative wedding shoes. We’ve got flats, wedges, and weirdness — be sure to check out the styles currently trending with our readers!

Low-heeled wedding boots

I’ve done posts about wedding boots before, but this time I wanted to take a slightly different tack… toward lower-heeled, more comfortable options.

I tried to limit my selections to heels with heights of less than three inches (…I didn’t always succeed), focusing on styles that had a hint of formality while still being as loud and funky as I always like to feature. I’ve got everything here from uber-femme brocaded floral booties all the way to androngynous glittered ankle boots to ass-stomping shit-kickers.

Blue shoes, for weddings and other weird days [UPDATED!]

Over the past six weeks, I’ve been working my way through a rainbow of shoe colors. In my final week of working through the most basic spectrum, it’s time to focus on blue shoes.

Blue shoes are actually not uncommon at all for weddings — lots of brides who are going for the “something old, something new” tradition use them as their “something blue.” That said, I’m doubting the majority of brides would rock the loud-ass blue shoes I’m about to feature…

Get married in purple shoes

Why get married in purple shoes? Because you’ll look like a purple-heeled bombshell. Why? Because you’ll look like royalty. Why? Because you’ll look like a surreal circus freak. As you can see, we’ve featured a LOT of purple-footed brides over the years, so it makes perfect sense that I’d take some time to dabble in purple shoes. These range from the prettiest pale lilac to the deepest almost-blue, from $40 to $1400, completely flat to towering tall. But they’re all purple. And they’re all awesome (especially the ones with the de-socketed eyeballs!)

Orange wedding shoes

Ok, look: two weeks ago I did green wedding shoes. Last week I did yellow wedding shoes. Shall we just make a series of it and move on to orange wedding shoes?!

Yes, we shall!

Black sparkling shoes for your noire wedding

My shoe posts almost always focus on shoes that are either A) loud, like I wear ’em or B) pale, like the majority of brides wear ’em. I almost never include shoes that are brown or black because sometimes they can feel too “daily wear” and not WEDDING-Y enough. I guess if I’mma go non-traditional, I opt toward my own candy-colored tastes, instead of the shoes that are just like my heart: black and sparkling.

So today, in honor of all brides goth, noire, and just a little bit dark-hearted, I’m going to focus on the glittery black pumps and flats.

Offbeat Brides’ top 10 favorite shoes: Spring 2012

Some of you who’ve been around for a while might remember my “Your favorite shoe” posts. Here’s how they work: when you buy shoes from one of my shoe posts, I can see what you buy. No, not you SPECIFICALLY, but y’all in general. I don’t know who buys what, but by looking through my records, I can see which shoes y’all love the most.
