See how a plush cat turned a wedding tradition into a super inclusive moment

Brittany and Taylor’s goth history nerd wedding featured a pretty spectacular way to honor ALL of your friends during what’s sometimes an awkward moment at the reception. Brittany’s bouquet toss was for anyone, no matter what their marital status or future plans. Instead of tossing a bouquet (which in this case was a kick-ass SHELL bouquet!), Brittany decided to throw a plush cat. You’ll want to see why.

do i need to rent highchairs for my wedding alternative wedding ideas from Offbeat Wed (formerly Offbeat Bride)

OPEN THREAD: Forget regular chairs, do we need to rent highchairs at our wedding?

Oh my goodness, the RSVP’s are coming in and we’re super-excited. Except that our effort to make our weekend wedding all-inclusive and family-friendly means that parents are asking whether we can provide high chairs at the summer camp resort we’ve rented. Is that the kind of thing we should have considered? Ditch centerpieces and let dinner be your wedding reception table decor

To decorate or not to decorate? That is the question. We’ve got people who keep their reception table decor minimal, we’ve got people who go all out, and we’ve got people who would like things to look nice but please-god-don’t-make-me-DIY-for-hours. No matter where you fall on the table decor spectrum, you really should check out Carmen and Grant‘s idea…

buying my dress before getting engaged alternative wedding ideas from Offbeat Wed (formerly Offbeat Bride)

I want to buy my dream wedding dress before I’m even engaged

I know this certainly isn’t a feeling everyone has, or SHOULD have, but this dress just spoke to me. I adore it. I was happy to stare at it every so often, but this last month, it was brought to my attention that “bridal designs” go out of style. Gone forever. I know that this is the one I want. I’ve wanted it for so long. Is it really so wrong to want to go try it on? Am I weird for wanting to buy my dream dress before I even get engaged?

Midweek weddings and weekday weddings aren’t so unusual in some parts of the world, but even among the weddings we see on Offbeat Bride, weekend weddings still reign supreme. So weddings that fall on a weekday can sometimes throw guests for a loop.
