Amber and Sumon had a combined American and Indian wedding, with elements from both cultures including a traditional Indian ceremony and saris and an American-style reception. There were two first looks (one before the ceremony and one more before the reception!), a custom-dyed crimson gown, bridal party henna, and a huge, fabulous cake shaped like jewel-toned pillows.

Smitten & Hooked Photography sent us this wedding and even got in on the henna and sari action. They spent three days with the couple and captured some truly gorgeous moments.

They served cookies and milk an hour before the wedding ended, which is such an awesome way to wind everyone down.

Comments on A colorful and elaborate Indian and American fusion wedding

  1. Ohhhh myyyy gooodnesss! I love Indian weddings! They are so gorgeous and full of detail! I would love to go to one.

  2. I’m going to an Indian/American fusion wedding this weekend. This just got me even more psyched for Friday and Saturday!!!

  3. OH my goodness that red dress for the reception. How do I go about getting myself one?! I love the idea of the big elaborate dress, but I don’t know how I feel about wearing white. This would be perfect.

  4. ELEVEN hours of henna? Wow! I could never sit still for that! I manage to smudge mine even if it’s just a little piece on the back of my hand.

    Totally gorgeous!

  5. I love it! I even bought those same amber colored lanterns for our centerpieces (although we will be doing something different with them) love the henna, the saris, the colorful Bollywood like decor! That crimson dress oh my!

  6. Oooooh, pretty!

Amber (AKA bride), where did you get your dress dyed? I want to dye mine to wear as a ball gown to whatever inaugural ball I can get to if/when Obama wins the election.
