Amy and Jesse's carnival-themed wedding pretty much had it all… tattooed wedding party, high rockabilly/circus fashion, adorable groomsmen in suspenders, blue hair, beautiful Hawaiian landscapes, two wedding dresses and bridal shoes that'll make you do a spit-take.

Need more convincing? Check out the bridal party's Dirty Dancing wedding entrance…

And NOW check these photos out. (Oh, and while you're looking at all these incredible photos, keep in mind that Marina was 8 1/2 months pregnant while shooting this! That's one hardcore Offbeat Mama for ya.)

Comments on Carnival-themed wedding in Hawaii

  1. Does anyone recognize the first dress the bride is wearing? Any ideas as to where its from/ who the designer is? I LOVE IT! Gorgeous couple, Kickass wedding.

  2. Totally amazing! Love the shoes, the outfits, the huge sense of fun and punk – everything really! Congrats guys, looks like an awesome day

  3. awesome photos. wondering if you would be willing to share the brand of the groom and groomsmens pants. they're pretty fantastic!

  4. there are so many wonderful elements to this wedding, i don't know where to begin! her hair is electrifying. and the shoes! ohh my. i love it.

  5. Love it, Love it, Love it, Love it! totally stunning bride-hair is rocking! i wish i was a guest at this wedding-looks sooooooooo much fun! :p

  6. What amazing pics. It looks as though it was a truly fab day. Gotta admit, I teared up a little at your pic of your partner waiting for you to come down the "aisle" – obviously true love!

  7. Um wow. I am a firm believer in doing something spectacular at your wedding that makes its unforgettable. This entrance certainly accomplishes this. I would have loved to have seen this one in person!!

  8. First off, thanks Megan for blogging this wedding!

Amy and Jesse are so in love and so genuine. I am glad so many people are enjoying their passion and creativity. This was a totally DIY, dry, Christian, vegan, punk rock wedding.

As for Amy's first dress, she told me she bought it online from China and she bought like 5 of them because they were so cheap. We are planning to shoot again after I have the baby in a more urban setting so the extra dresses will be used.

Jesse and groomsmen we wearing WahMakers. They looked SO handsome in these old-timey Western pants! http://www.culturedcowboy.com/wahmaker/pages/pant

Thanks everyone for you love and support. I am about to pop over here (41 weeks pregnant!) and so happy to have this be my last wedding for a while.

    See you on OffBeatMama!

    • If there is any way you could find out the name of the website or where she ordered her first dress please let me know. I have been looking for a dress like this everywhere. Thank you so much.

    • Marina, I was wondering if you knew anything more on buying dresses from China or had any insight? I love that idea, but did not know where to start.

      Thanks!
      xoxo,
      lauren

  9. Wow! They look so much in love. Beautiful photos. The brides hair is so unique, yet it still looks great. I wonder what she does with it on a normal day.

  10. they are the cutest couple!, and they have the most bad ass wedding ever, he is so handsome, shes so super adorable they are amazeballs!

  11. Glad to see all the positive comments on here, as some of the comments I have seen on this wedding on other places were kind of snarky.

  12. Everything about this wedding looks incredible. Everyone looks like they had so much fun, and the photographs are incredible. I love the similarities between the brilliantly colored Hawaiian background and the bride's insanely bright, gorgeous tattoos. The theme, the food, the decorations, gah! I'm in love with this whole event. Beautiful.

  13. This is my favourite wedding I’ve ever seen online. I’m super-jealous that I’m not friends with these guys!

  14. Wow!! Wow!!! And more WOW!!!! Not only is it GORGEOUS (with a super attractive couple!), but it looks like so much FUN!!
I want my wedding to be like that! Everyone looks like they’re having a blast! I’ve been to way too many dull weddings where everyone just sits around. I want crazy dancing, and running around, and people posing for their photo shoots! 😀

  15. I went through the pics on the photographer link and O.M.G.– Best wedding EVER! =O

  16. Love Love LOVE this carnival-themed weddding…it’s made me think twice about what I originally wanted for my own (an enchanted forest theme). Is there anyway I can get in contact with this awesome couple to find the inside scoop about the details and such?

  17. hey guys thanks so much for all your awesome comments. this was my wedding. we did it all our selves and really cheap. my dress was only 100 bucks and was from china http://www.milanoo.com/wholesale-Wedding-Apparel-c391 they made it to fit me perfectly and like marina said i got three different ones cause they were so cheap and i couldnt try them on ahead of time.

you can check out all the sites and info of where i got everything on my blog. http://amyjeanshowalter.blogspot.com/2010/06/our-diy-carnival-wedding.html
