When Gretchen was a little girl, she told her mother that she'd get married at the Renaissance Faire. Although she may not remember saying this herself, she was right!

Gretchen and Michael's wedding was a full-on Renaissance affair. The ceremony took place over Labor Day weekend at the Cotswold Commons area of the fairgrounds. Gretchen and her family have attended Bristol's Renaissance Faire almost every year, and she even wore her late grandparents' wedding rings pinned to her dress in their memory during her ceremony.

The officiant dressed as a monk, bridesmaids wore DIY faery wings and flower crowns, and all the groomsmen wore color-coordinated capes. The couple incorporated a Medieval wine ceremony into their wedding as a symbol of their lives uniting as one. Guests waved wands and tossed lavender during the recessional. Naturally, a vibrant "Huzzah!" was the common exclamation throughout the day. The Bristol Renaissance Faire catered the meal, complete with huge turkey legs, naturally!).

(Editor's note: I was coincidentally AT the Renaissance Faire when this wedding happened and saw it all go down! Inadvertent wedding crashing FTW.)

  1. 1. It looks so colourful and fun, and joyous and bright!
    2. That flower "boquet" circle thing? WOAH. Gorgeous. And so practical – you can just hang it in the crook of your arm if you need both hands!
    3. "The most noble and ancient house of Black" – I see Harry Potter book page-wrapped wedding favours/food!

And a coincidental wedding crash from an Offbeat editor… why, all of this is just brill!
