What made our wedding offbeat: First and foremost we had our wedding in the theatre in which we met at college. We were both theatre majors. We got married on the stage where we first met! We didn't want "theatre" to be our theme, but the place was very important to us.

We all know I'm a sucker for a colorful wedding, but my eyes almost fell out of my skull when Zahra emailed me about Anya's full-spectrum Australian rainbow wedding … the rainbow dress! The rainbow ribbon veil! The rainbow ribbon-flower bouquet! The RAINBOW EVERYTHING! Of course, it should surprise no-one that Anya runs a website called RainbowHairColor.com.

How many of my favorite wedding things can you count in this photo? Let me see …

1. Red wedding dress. Duh.

2. Wedding wings.

3. You can't really see it in this shot, but that's a ribbon veil! And we know I loves the ribbon veils.

4. Grinning boston terrier as bouquet. (I have a boston mix, so I'm biased.)

5. Total "not taking any shit" look from the barefoot bride.

My offbeat groom: Justin, art guy

Location & date of wedding: May 5 2007 at a family ranch in Ellensburg, WA (middle of nowhere, just about)

What made our wedding offbeat: Ways we were odd: wrote our own very naturalistic vows, made and/or altered a lot of the small details, bought the dress (and many other bits) on ebay, did a 'formal' ceremony in barefeet. Yes, I think we scared the crap out of some people, including the neighbors. We each had three rings. That was probably the most expensive part beyond the Canadian photographer!
