Shoes for old ladies, that are comfortable as hell and might be fabulous for ladies of ANY age getting married? THIS SOUNDS AWESOME. Older women know what's UP when it comes to low heels and comfort, so let's see what we've got going on over here on AmeriMark

Comments on Low heel wedding shoes: 11 pairs of old-lady shoes ladies of all ages will love [UPDATED 2022!!]

  1. HELLS to the YES!!! As a tall Amazon of a lady marrying a tiny gnome dude, I have been searching for shoes that are adorable, but won’t make me tower over my groom!

  2. If only my eyes like low heel shoes as much as my feet would. Sorry feet. but I will check out the website 🙂

  3. I like the shoes but I think it would have been better to just call them low heeled shoes instead of old lady shoes. High heels are not the be all and end all when it comes to shoes. I’m not a fan of high heeled shoes, so I think it’s unfair to say that low heeled shoes are considered old lady (aka ugly and not as pretty so a bonus “correct” shoe had to be included).

    • I personally don’t find it offensive. To me old lady shoes suggests a low heel, but also that they are well-made, comfortable, easy to get on and have a decent grip on the sole.

I appreciate they’re not to everyone’s tastes but I’m a pretty big fan of shoe brands aimed at older women. I don’t see the point in buying fashionable shoes that fit badly and fall apart after a few wears.

I think these Hotter shoes would be lovely for a wedding:

      • I was about to get in a quick plug for Hotter!

I have a tricky shoe size and dodgy ankles, so 99% of pretty shoes are dead to me. Hotter is the one shop that almost never lets me down (I think I’ve returned two pairs in ten years), and I have a small stockpile of party shoes from them that I think hold their own at any fancy event.

And they are so very comfortable, right out of the box. Which strikes me as an important feature in wedding shoes, where you aren’t necessarily going to have any opportunity for breaking in…

    • Heya michcat! I totally hear what you’re saying, and my intention was just to playfully riff off of the commenter who described Amerimark as “the center for all things old lady,” which happens to include lots of fabulous low heeled shoes. As an obsessive follower of Advanced Style, I truly believe that old is the new black. 🙂

  4. AaaaaaAAAAAAA those gold dress flats are practically EXACTLY WHAT I’VE BEEN SEEKING and they’re only TWENTY BUCKS?! And they come in zebra! And leopard! And red, and mint, and coral, and silver, and and and **has shoe-related fit**

  5. I have Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, and an only partially corrected reverse club foot, so I haven’t been able to wear anything over an inch-and-a-half heel since I was 30 (am 35 now). Calling them “Old Lady Shoes” is what drew me in, since I figured they’d be orthopedics, which is what I need if I’m going to survive several hours on my feet come wedding day. I hadn’t looked at AmeriMark since my future hubby’s grandma passed away; she used to give me the catalogs once she was done with them because she knew how hard it was for me to find anything comfortable. I wish I’d remembered them sooner; a couple of these could work with my Steampunk theme! Thanks for suggesting AmeriMark!

  6. Holy crap, these are PERFECT for my needs for office shoes!

    • I was just lamenting I didn’t know about this site before my wedding (they have size 11s!), but that is a brilliant point! Now I know where I can find cute, comfy work shoes.

    • I was just thinking this same thing. I walk a lot at work, but my sneakers really don’t go well with a skirt and blouse. I already have wedding shoes, but I still got excited and am looking through these!

  7. I LOVE AmeriMark shoes! I’ve been wearing them since I stole a pair of my Grandma’s sandals in the late 80s. I adore their old timey look. [As someone who was nicknamed “Miss Prairie Punk Rock” by her Tower Records comrades, you may understand why.]

Today, your post reminded me that I needed a new pair and so I clicked over on one of the images in the post. Then, I cracked up when I read the comments section.

    BEST USES: CHURCH

    Yup. That sounds about right.

  8. Thank you thank you thank you!!! I’ve studied Marsha Hunt’s “The Way We Wore” obsessively, and I’ve fallen in love with the low-heel beauties that were par for the course back in the 1930’s. It’s wonderful to see these lovelies still being made by people who understand that some of us still need to walk and stand in our heels during daily activities.

  9. Wow, where were these when I was looking? It can be punishingly hard to find fancy shoes with low heels!

  10. This post was a life saver! We have officially ordered two pairs of shoes for my fiance, the first ones they sent the wrong color and were completely out when we went to exchange, and the second they lost and then, again, were completely out when they went to send a replacement. We have looked everywhere and finally have found something in time. Fingers crossed!
