KMKDesigns is a mother and daughter team from Minnesota who own and operate an alternative clothing and bridal shop. We love having them as a sponsor because, unlike many bridal shops, KMKDesigns specializes in wedding gowns and alternative daily wear inspired by Steampunk, Gothic, Japanese Lolita, and fantasy aesthetics.

We cater to non-traditional wedding clients because our goal is to not fit a standard style, but to create a dream dress for the bride getting married.

Y'all, these dresses are out of control. Let's drool over KMKDesigns gowns and talk about how we can get YOU into one of these creations at a special discount…

Comments on Jaw-dropping, one-of-a-kind alternative wedding fashions from KMKDesigns

  1. I had them customize one of their designs for my wedding dress. It came in about a month ago, and I adore it! Additionally, they made my groom’s vest and a cravat out of the material my dress is made of.

I would also mention that their turnaround time is great, and they are very responsive- I had four months to plan a wedding, and they were able to customize my design, send me swatches, and make my dress (not to mention my groom’s items) in 8 weeks! I can’t recommend them highly enough. My dress makes me feel like a beautiful fairy goth princess, which is exactly how I should feel on our wedding day.

  2. I had my bridesmaid dresses done by them and they were amazing. Super friendly and the dresses were fantastic and the turn around time was very fast! I’ve ordered things for myself multiple times and it’s all beautiful, high quality and unique. They really know how to make any body type look it’s absolute best!

  3. I would like to chime in with more praise! KMK made my wedding skirt, with which I am madly in love! Fabulous communication — they were really helpful sending me swatches and helping me figure out exactly what I wanted. The final product is gorgeous and really well made. I plan to order more clothes from them in the future.

  4. I too will sing their praise. I discovered them 2 years ago when hunting for a little red riding hood jumper and I loved everything about it, so now they are building my custom wedding dress!

the quality is spectacular, great quality cloth, expert cut and sew. The thing has held up to two years of heavy and not gentle wear. Plus the two of them are wonderful wonderful people. I highly recommend checking them out!

  5. I can attest KMK did an excellent job with my dress and the quality is amazing. In giddiness I ordered it well over a year before the wedding, unexpectedly gained 25 lbs and while it had to be tied a little wider in the back, the corset still held up great! Didn’t buckle or bend once. I beat the hell out of that dress during the reception what with moshing and whatnot and you’d never know it to look at it.

They have fantastic customer service and communication. I found them on an Etsy search and am so glad to see them profiled on OBB.

    • And I bet there was no chance your boobs were going to slip out either! My friend wore a strapless wedding dress and all night she had to continue to hoist it back up.

      • Not once! I did wear a Nu Bra under the corset but the corset held in great!

  6. Very fairy tail-esk or Renaissance! Those dresses would look fabulous in a wedding at the Houston Renaissance Festival (who does weddings).

  7. I am actually getting my custom dress made by KMK at the moment. My original choice was an alternative colouring to the second picture on this page, until me and the Mr decided to change our theme.
Well, I can now use the discount for second half of the payment at least 😀

And, as a customer, I totally recommend KMKDesigns. The owners are really friendly, patient and helpful. In fact, when I first contacted them, I had a reply within minutes, and a first sketch of my dress idea in 20min!
I was sent several swatches of fabric choices and colours, trimmings – the works! I cannot praise this team of talented artists enough. And am very excited to see them on OBB!

  8. Awww man! I wish this post had been made about 6 months ago when I was still looking. I think I made the right choices for me, but WOW is their stuff ever in line with my aesthetic. I mean SERIOUSLY, can we talk about the bodice (and the model, prowr) in that last photo?

  9. HOLY SMOKES! I almost fell out of my chair at that last pic! I KNOW her!! Small world moment. Haha. These are gorgeous dresses. 🙂
