Now let's adjust our glasses and peruse these bookish beauties…

Bookish Invites

Speaking of storybooks… I love that these wedding invitations look like pages torn right from a book. They even tea-stained the pages!

These library card invitations were perfect for the wedding of a librarian and a bibliophile! And the bookish couple was nice enough to show you how you can make your own over here.

Library Wedding InvitationsIf you don't want to go the DIY route, you can easily order these Library card wedding invites from Minted!

IMG_03782Do you remember these Save the Date bookmarks? These could also work well as wedding invitations/Save the Dates — the bookmark comes out of the slot and works as a reminder to your guests, while the bulk of the invitation gives your guests all the info they'll ever need.

Love Grade Wedding InvitationsAny teachers in love in the house? Send everyone your very own report cards.

Wedding InvitiationThese wedding invites included a hand-stamped invite card and an info card the couple designed to look like a library catalog card. Dewey decimal represent!

rsvpHow about this library-themed RSVP that even includes space for the guests to write in their three favorite authors?

Classic Inkwell Wedding InvitationsWell, maybe the writers in the house would love this one even more. The ink splotches are so neat.

Love Story Wedding InvitationsWant to be more subtle with your book-lover ways? This "love story" wedding invitation with printed bunting (how cute would those be IRL?) is kind of perfect.

Based on our last reader survey, I know that a LOT of you reading this self-identify as academia nerds. So tell me, did or will you celebrate your love of literature with your invitations?

  1. I actually considered many of these invitations for my literary-themed wedding, but couldn't be ok with them because they weren't colorful enough! So what I am doing is using invitations that are sort of "bold and typographical" stylistically, and have big purple flowers on them, and then I am going to use pages of a book as the backers. I think it will be a great way to combine the romance and colors of my wedding with the literary theme!

  2. At some point I really need to get photos up of our invites…. they are so fabulously nerdy :)

  3. Nice! I'm trying to come up with placecards that look like books. Any ideas?

    • I'm going to make these seed wallets which will act as both placecards and favours

I'm going to stand them upright so they look like a book and embellish the 'spine' area with a strip of fabric or ribbon. Hopefully it will look like a miniature book.

  4. Oh, I can't wait until our photographer takes some pretty pictures of our invites, but my crappy iPhone ones will have to do for now. Our wedding, in two weeks, is at the main downtown library, and a friend of ours whose a graphic designer, made these amazing library themed invites for us!

  5. These are so amazing! My wife and I are both English majors, and we did a more subtle nod (dictionary paper bouquet [http://www.etsy.com/listing/71692717/dictionary-paper-flower-bouquet] and hairpins). We want another ceremony in a few years, with more people, and I'm totally coming back to this post.

  6. These are all so awesome! I'm doing a bookish wedding and although it's too late for the invites, you've put me on the prowl for bookish programs! Looks like minted might have some too

  7. What a stunning effort. Do you design postcards for publicity? Love to use you to help publicize my cocktail duo – Amica Duo

  8. Even though it might be considered more "nerdy" than strictly academic, I'm gagging to word invitations as, instead of "Mr. & Mrs. So-and-so" as "The ancient and most noble houses of…" as a reference to Harry Potter ;)

  9. That's not Dewey decimal in #7! It's Library of Congress classification.

  10. These are fantastic. I have been looking around for our literature themed wedding for cool invitations and these are all perfect! We are doing Harry Potter/comic book and other book flower bouquets, books stacked on the tables and author's names instead of table numbers. Oh and our place cards are going to be old card catalog cards with our guests names typewritten on them! I am so excited!
