Meet Becca, the next Offbeat Bride intern

Site News By on October 18, 2010 17

MeI put the call out a couple weeks ago for the next Offbeat Bride intern and hoo-ee, y'all did not make that decision easy.

I got a shit-ton of beyond-amazing inquiries, but the applicant who rose to the top is one you've seen on the site before: this is Becca, and we featured her turquoise and red wedding a few months ago, complete with swing dancing. She also shared her photobooth tutorial a while back, and wrote one of the most controversial Offbeat Bride posts of all time.

Becca comes to us with some significant skills — she's a freelance computer programmer, so we're expecting the "learnings" to be a two-way street with this particular intern.

Here's her bio:

Becca has spend most of her life gluing together seemingly disparate interests - from figure skating, studying, and driving around the Chicago suburbs to see punk rock shows to majoring in Women and Gender Studies at a small, all girls liberal arts college and then getting a Masters in Computer Science. Currently, Becca works as a freelance computer programmer, organizes her local CSA, and now is the Offbeat Bride intern. She is super stoked to have an excuse to read about offbeat weddings all the time! In her spare time, Becca reads a lot, makes jewelry and ribbonwork, snowboards and attempts to record her songs with her punk-rock bass playing husband.

Becca lives in Queens with her baseball/politics/punk rock/Joss Whedon-obsessed husband and her crazy black pug, Maverick.

Welcome to the Offbeat Empire, Becca! We're so very, VERY excited to have you here with us.
