Comments on 13 wedding dresses under $100

  1. Goodwill all the way baby! I got mine for $40 from Goodwill and then had it altered.

  2. Don’t forget department stores. I found a dress for $35 after prom in beautiful ivory / a sweep train & 1930s elegance!

  3. I found my green dress (the exact shade I’d been looking for) on a random quick trip through Dress Barn (it’s not online anywhere), after spending a day turning up nada at every other store in a big outlet mall. $50. A few minor alterations. Okay, not perfectly fitted and made for me, but especially for colored dresses and more casual weddings, it could be ANY store – just shop with your eye tuned for your color!

  5. sigh…if only my legs could handle that short dress! I love the two lacy ones right after too, simple, delicate and oh so pretty!

  6. ps. The romantic hippy dress, where is it from? Am I just blind and can’t see the link?

  7. These are great!!

This should be re-posted on every single other “inexpensive wedding dresses” post online out there in the interwebz, b/c most of the “other” ones are to try to convince you to buy more expensive things! Ridiculous!
Thanks for keeping it real, OBB 🙂 .

  8. Would it be wrong to wear a dress I bought for £4.50 ($7) out of a charity shop? Hmmm….

    • That’s awesome!

My sister used to work in a charity shop and her favourite days were always when they sold a wedding dress. She loves clothes so I think she hates the idea of these awesome dresses only getting worn once.

If someone hadn’t bought them before I got home from work my shoes would have come from a charity shop. They still might do actually…the hunt is on going.

    • Rosses is also a great place for dresses!!! check it out right after prom season. i got mine for 22 dollars and im still crazy about it! it was comfy and beautifull

  9. I fell in love with that Black and white Jessica dress and had my heart set on getting that one. When I went out, I found something so stunning that is mostly black with a white bust mermaid style and bought it for $90 CND

  10. This isn’t strictly in the spirit of the post since the source is about as non-indie as it gets, but I got my prettyful Vineyard dress for $99 at a sample sale at Priscilla of Boston. She’s in great condition, too, just a few seasons old and hadn’t found her forever home yet. I also checked out a sample sale at the fancy-schmanciest bridal shop in our area and was surprised to find multiple dresses that had been marked down to $100 – again perfect condition; the store had stopped carrying those designers a little while back and wanted to clear out the samples. So … sample sales, ladies. Sample sales.

(Btw, if you have a favorite designer or shop(s) in your area and sign up for their email list, you’ll receive notifications about their sale schedules. Most stores have them semiannually. You can even call ahead to see if they have dresses available in or near your size – it’s not just sixes and eights!)

    • I got an ebay bargain, ex bridal shop display for £100(slightly more I know but a bargain in the Britain) only needed the minutest of alterations

  11. I’ve already bought my dress, but that taffeta burgundy dress with the black sash is perfect for my MOH! I will show it to her and see what she thinks. Thank you so much for this post!

      • Number three, from the top. Mine’s in white and it’s so freaking comfortable and epically flattering for a curvy lady. Plus it has fluffy petticoat action. YES.

P.S. I’m the one who originally wrote in about the two PacificPlex dresses, including number three here, so they could be placed in the store. I’m so glad you guys checked out the company. Both dresses I bought are comfy, flattering, styling, and cheap – plus the shipping was ridiculously fast (2 days from California to Pennsylvania) and the customer service was excellent. I really recommend them!

        Um. Rambles.

        Yay wedding dresses!

  12. If you can sew or know someone who can sew you can get pattern, fabric, thread and accesorys. most cases they cost much less than buying a dress in stores. You can also shop in dept. stores after prom season for a cheap sale.I have one more suggestion if you are brave enough… make a t- shirt dress yes out of all white shirts)which I am doing for my friend whos getting married next spring.

  13. Oy. Now every time I wear the first dress to work, I’ll feel very bridal! It’s Merona Collection from Target & you may be able to find it in-stores on clearance for a steal!

  14. Augh! These dresses are so lovely! I would have loved this post about 6 months ago when I bought my dress. Of course the dress I got was lovely and the wedding was perfect, but damn, these dresses make me want to get married again!

  15. Wasn’t there a bride who wore that white dress with the black lace on it? She wore a green cropped jacket (I’m not fashion-forward so I don’t know officially what it was called), she had short hair and wore glasses. I remember that because I loved all the details from her wedding! (She featured Flogging Molly, which totally got us here in the house!)

I have had my dress for quite a few months now, and purchased it from Ross Dress For Less. I paid $24.99, and it originally was $89, so score! I love that people here are thinking outside the store to find their dream dresses! Wonderful!

  16. Random side swoon for the navy dress uniform in the second picture! I’ve always thought fellows in military dress uniforms looked tight.

But back on topic: Great round up of cheap and good looking dresses!

    • Where did you buy it?? Looks like Amazon only has sizes 2-4 left, and I haven’t been able to find anywhere else online that carries it… But it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for!!

  17. I LOVE Modcloth! I bought the “Snow Place Like Home” dress (not for my wedding) and it is absolutely dreamy:

Would make a gorgeous wedding dress for those interested in shorter lengths. I’m 5’0″ and it was a good length for me, but might be too short on taller girls. It’s currently out of stock, but Modcloth seems to restock pretty often.

I am absolutely dying for this dress to come back in stock; I would love to get married in the Ethereal Evening Dress:

It’s out of the price range of this post, but still rather cheap in the way of wedding dresses. And gorgeous. Really gorgeous.

  18. My wedding dress was a pretty dress I bought off a rack in downtown San José, Costa Rica. Buying online is a nightmare when living overseas and since I am a plus size, finding ANY dress that fit was almost impossible. I walked by the store, and saw this beautiful blue dress on the window, went inside, tried it on and bought it on the spot for $40.
The best part is that it is a dress I can absolutely wear again!

  19. Feisty Firecracker Dress in Sparkler
This is the dress I bought for my courthouse wedding/reception next summer…$52 bucks! Boo ya!

  20. I bought my wedding dress from newyorkdress.com and it is a prom dress its gorgeous and i had to have!! So I bought it and tucked it away till next year June 8 2013 My wedding day can’t wait!! =)

  21. I’m going with a skirt and blouse option. Haven’t quite decided which one yet, but I’m working on it. And the blouses that fail the test will be nice tops to wear at other times. Double the shopping fun.

  22. My wedding dress was ModCloth’s “Tickling the Ivories Dress” for $59, and it was perfect for our vintage elopement.

  23. I’m getting married this May. I took a chance & spent $53 on the Sunrise Ceremony dress from ModCloth. (I don’t think it’s available anymore.) I figured I’d only be out that much if it didn’t work out…. BUT, it did!! I was thrilled. I ordered a beaded sash from Etsy that was about $80. Beautiful doesn’t need to break the bank!
