So who breaks the glass at a Jewish wedding when both partners are women?

They both do! This photo was the first time I've seen a double glass breaking ceremony and it looks awesome! Why should boys get all the destructive fun amaright? ;)

These two lovely just married ladies are Caitlyn and Ariel (OBT member ArielT) and there were so many adorable details about their wedding...

I love their short wedding dresses and their brightly colored shoes.

Oh and this is one of my favorite first dance photos that I've ever seen. It's entitled "First dance foiled by one small Batman!"

Hopefully we'll be getting ALL the details from this wedding asap. I mean AWWWWWW!...

  • Hooray! My husband and I (we just got married this May) also did a double glass breaking, after we had our officiant announce that we were doing it because we were both going into this marriage as equals. We both wanted to have fun doing it!

I love it! My husband and I also stomped the glass together. It was fun (just look out for each others' toes…). Apparently there's not religious doctrine behind the glass stomping, so doing it together is just breaking tradition, not committing any offensive blasphemy.

  • The funny thing is, it didn't even occur to me that it's done any other way! I guess all of the Jewish weddings I have been to were egalitarian in nature. FYI: we had a chuppah and broke the glass, but otherwise it was a secular ceremony. It was Jew-ish.

    • The way I'm reading Jew-ish made me LOL a little bit. :) One of those "ooohhh yeahhhh I see what you did there" kind of funnies.

  • So cool that you both stomped the glass! I officiated at a Catholic bride/Jewish groom wedding this weekend, and only the groom stomped, but we were all under the chuppah together, and I know this will be an egalitarian wedding! :) Congrats and many blessings!
