I shot the wedding last weekend of Tribe member Djinnaya and her awesome husband Jason. There were SO MANY amazing parts to their wedding that I can't wait to share with you. But the best part was that, before leaving home and heading off to their park reception, Djinnaya stopped and grabbed her (first edition) Offbeat Bride book

Things that are awesome about this photo: Djinnaya beautiful herself, the Offbeat Bride book, funky paper flower bouquet and the flask full of tequila.

The reason why?…

Well, in order to hand it off to one of her newly engaged friends of course! A “passing of the book” if you will. And I hope it produces another incredibly offbeat wedding like Djinnaya and Jason's…

Comments on The passing of the book

  1. I gave it to my friend Catherine, who’s in a long-term relationship but is famously afraid of marriage. OBB may even inspire an engagement soon!

  2. I’m the sort of person who will read and re-read a book over and over again, so I can’t imagine just giving away OBB forever. Buuut… I can definitely imagine passing a newly engaged girlfriend a brand new copy with some additional sticky notes!

  3. Yeah, I passed mine off to a friend as well. Not sure she read it, but with her steampunk themed, tattoo filled, backyard, parasolled wedding she either read it – or totally didn’t need it.

  4. I did that at my wedding too! (Although no pictures of the exchange, sadly) I had wedding/marriage themed books everywhere as decoration, and I gave away my beloved (also first edition) copy of OBB to a friend that’s getting married this summer. It felt really good – that was really also the moment that I realized that that part of my life is over: no more planning, no more bride-ing, now I’m just wife-ing. Which is pretty great.
